This is the easiest method ever!.

Just mix the batter, pour over bread, and bake.

The kids absolutely love this for breakfast and it sure frees up a lot of your time cooking.

Easy French Toast

One thing about making this all in baked and cut up, it doesn't look like french toast.

They still taste the same, and I like the easy cooking method and still delicious!

The best part about this super easy baked french toast is no clean-up in comparison.

This can even be made in a disposable tin in a hurry and there will be nothing to wash!

We actually like the precooked bacon or Pork breakfast Sausage for an extra side dish or frozen breakfast potatoes.

French Toast Casserole Bake with cinnamon and brown sugar. No dipping flipping or frying all in one pan breakfast!

Ingredients

  • Around 6 slices or 1 large day-old bread loaf like brioche, challah, crusty sourdough, or Pannetone bread
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 -1/2 cups whole milk or half and half
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla or almond extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 small McIntosh apples sliced very thin
  • 1/2 cup fresh blueberries
  • Optional: 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg or any other spice you prefer
  • Optional toppings ( we bake the fruit inside the french toast or you can use fresh as a topping):
  • maple syrup, honey, powdered sugar, and fresh blueberries, strawberries
  • Cinnamon Sugar Garnish for the top: 2 tablespoons granulated sugar 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Mix the cinnamon and sugar set aside.
  2. Grease the pan you are using either a 13 x 9 or a deep casserole dish ( I used a large porcelain casserole dish buttered and oil sprayed.)
  3. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  4. In a large mixing bowl add the milk, eggs, brown sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon and whisk together.
  5. Break up the bread (or leave it in slices, either way, works fine) you are using and place it in the prepared pan.
  6. Place the fruit on the bread and sprinkle lightly with cinnamon and sugar.
  7. Pour the milk mixture over the bread,  sprinkle the top with more cinnamon and sugar, drizzle with melted butter and bake in a hot oven for 35 to 40 minutes depending on how thick you made your toast.
  8. Serve with syrup, berries, or powdered sugar on top.
