The onset of fall is so lovely with the turning colors of leaves, and of course, it's pumpkin season so breakfast is being served today with pumpkin puree in waffle batter all homemade!

As you move into the cooler weather, the smell of these pumpkin spice waffles just makes the most comforting feel as you enter a room first thing in the morning, and there is nothing better other than the smell of perking coffee if you're fans of both.

Our homemade scratch Pumpkin Waffles will not disappoint fans of waffles and pumpkin, it's a family fall breakfast in our home.

What to Serve Pumpkin Waffles With

  • sliced fruit, especially apples or bananas
  • whipped cream
  • chopped toasted pecans or walnuts
  • for nut allergies use toasted pumpkin seeds
  • a scoop of maple or butter pecan ice cream as a dessert waffle
  • top with pure maple syrup

  • blueberries
  • more raisins
  • diced peaches
  • sliced bananas
  • diced mango
  • pineapple
  • minced apples
  • pears
  • fresh berries

Suggestions for Side Dishes and Tips

  1. country baked apples  
  2. flavored whipped cream (add pumpkin puree to the cream)
  3. crispy bacon
  4. scrambled eggs
  5. sliced cooked ham steak
  6. use almond, and maple,  in the batter
  7. breakfast sausages
  8. freeze leftovers for another time
  9. reheat in the toaster

Pumpkin Waffles

Pumpkin Waffles

These are the perfect fall breakfast or dessert using pumpkin puree as an addition to your waffle batter all homemade!
Prep time: 15 MinCook time: 5 MinTotal time: 20 Min

Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • pinch of nutmeg
  • Serving Ideas: chopped pecans, pumpkin seeds roasted, butter, maple syrup, powdered sugar, whipped cream, or maple walnut ice cream

Instructions

  1. Heat the waffle iron to your instructions booklet.
  2. Oil spray the waffle iron with butter-flavored oil.
  3. In a mixing bowl add all the wet ingredients and beat together.
  4. Slowly add the dry to the bowl and mix leaving small lumps.
  5. Using a gravy ladle pour into the center of the waffle iron it will spread out when you close the lid.
  6. We like our dark so bake them until the desired browned color you prefer and crispiness.
