Nothing compares to this one in taste and texture.
The buttery cookies are tender crunchy mouth-watering while baking cookies.
The Snickerdoodles are by far the best ever cinnamon fall sugar cookie ever!
I can't tell you how many I have made that never compare to this recipe.
If you bake these until set they stay soft inside, and crunchy outside, baking longer makes them more like sugar cookies.
Either way, they taste great but everyone is different in preference.

- Bake for 7 to 8 minutes

Cinnamon Sugar Garnish
This is simple to make the cinnamon sugar recipe to roll them in don't buy it premade!.
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon of cinnamon, (added to a ziplock bag or place on a paper plate) and stir or shake to blend it evenly.
Tip: We happen to love cinnamon however if you want less, start out with 2 teaspoons and then add more and season to your taste with this spice.
Rolling in the Sugar
Roll the dough into 1-inch balls then evenly cover the cookie balls.
Place on either a parchment-lined cookie sheet or lightly oil sprayed.
The Dough
As I said before, if you melt the butter, the dough will be gooey and hard to roll.
It will be a little easier to roll if you refrigerate the dough wrapped in wax paper for an hour.
See the below photo of the dough with melted butter, not too easy to roll.
Make a Double Batch!
This recipe makes around 24 medium-sized cookies, I always double the batch at Christmas time.
These go fast and taste amazing still warm!
I can never make enough of these, so they are a cookie jar favorite!
Cinnamon Spice and Everything Nice
A snickerdoodle is a childhood favorite. These cookies have been around as long as I can remember.
Mom used to make them when I was a child, that was in the late 1960s.
We love the smell of them baking, they are pure comfort food at its finest.
The soft buttery inside is so addicting!
They go great with a cup of your favorite hot beverage, mine will always be a cup of rich Amaretto hot cocoa.
Tips You Can Substitute!
- If you don't have the cream of tarter you can substitute lemon juice.
- For crunchier cookies bake until edges are browned.
- For softer cookies bake just till set not browned.
- Flattened cookies with a coated cinnamon and sugared flat bottom glass.
- I add more cinnamon to my sugar than most people like and adjust to taste.
- I love the whole cookie dredged in the sugar, not just the tops.
- For thicker cookies refrigerator the dough balls then bake
Puffy or Flat Cookies?
When I make these cookies, I have two kinds of lovers in the house on how to bake them.
One loves them thin and crispy, the other thick and chewy.
The thin ones are flattened with the bottom of a sugared or floured glass.
The thick ones are rolled into balls and baked.
Here are the thick ones not flattened with a sugared glass
Additions to the Top
- mm's
- mini chocolate chips
- colorful sprinkles
- chopped walnuts
