Copycat Whaler with Homemade Tartar Sauce

Thursday, June 4, 2020
This copycat from the 1980s and this Whaler is pretty much a dead ringer in flavors!

The secret is in the tartar sauce, and seriously, it makes the sandwich fabulous!

The BK food chain has a light and flaky 100% Alaskan Pollock fillet topped with a delicious creamy tartar sauce and shredded lettuce on the potato bun.

I used everything except for the same kind of fish.

Years ago, when it debuted in 1975, the Big Fish sandwich has changed and evolved using different fish, but the buns; however, that delicious tartar sauce has stayed the same in taste.

I made my sandwich with fried haddock, also a delicious white flaky fish, using my fish fry recipe.

If you love the Whaler, you're in for a homemade treat in less than 25 minutes!

I love copycat recipes like my  Beef and Cheddar, and I also have a roundup of Copycat Recipes to try!

I always order mine with a slice of cheese, which is extra, but I really like the fish better with cheese; you can omit that part if you're not big on that.

So my copycat version is really one that I love to make, and the tartar sauce if fantastic, it totally complements this sandwich.

You can use any frozen, premade brand of fish in the supermarket or make your own.

Don't forget to pick up some shoestrings French fries, or make a seasoned style like my Italian fries to go with this delicious fish sandwich.

It's really super simple and quick if you're using all store-bought brands and not all homemade like I did.

Italian White or Red Seafood Chowder

Sunday, December 1, 2019
This is an Italian White or Red seafood Chowder is usually made on Christmas Day to repurpose all our 7 Fishes Italian Christmas Eve traditional meal the night before.

The soup is hardy with all kinds of shellfish and white fish that is fresh.

We always had several family members love the red over white chowder and we typically made both.

Luckily they are both super easy chowders to make and we make everyone happy.

I love repurposing the seafood, nothing goes to waste and the soup is fabulous in flavors with all those potatoes and chunky goodness in one bowl!

You will find both recipes here for both red chowder and white chowder in the recipe card below.

If you can't decide which one to make, then do what we do, make them both!!

Baked Cod with Roasted Vegetables

Wednesday, December 12, 2018
Baked Cod with roasted vegetables is one of the best seafood recipes and the results are a moist white flaky flavorful fish in the end topped with vegetables.

This easy baked cod is wonderful on a bed of sauteed spinach with a medley of roasted vegetables on top.

Basic baked cod fish is a versatile variety when it comes to fish it can be made baked, fried, and make a salted cod fish in a tomato sauce called Bacccala on Christimas Eve.

The best part about this Baked Cod with Roasted Vegetables is that it's an all in one pan meal that needs no other side dish and perfect around Easter Lent time when folks eat fish on Friday.

Cod is easy to prepare and cooks up fast for those busy weeknight meals.

Then added toasted bread crumbs on a bed of sauteed spinach makes this simple but so gourmet.

This meal is easy to make and takes a lot less time using fresh or frozen depending on how thick the pieces are.

I also give suggestions and substitution ideas if you're not a fish lover or have an allergy to seafood.

It truly is a delightful recipe, scroll down and see why it's tops in our home.

Macadamia Crusted Stuffed Flounder in Butter Wine Sauce

Thursday, September 16, 2010

It's that time of the year when I love making baked fish, it's one of my favorite ways to prepare it. Baked fish filets are always a better choice than fried for healthier cooking. If you can't find flounder try any kind of mild fish as an alternative.

Flounder layered with Shrimp and bread crumb filling, with a splash of white wine.
