Easy Filled Refrigerator Biscuits

If you're looking for a quick dessert these Easy Filled Refrigerator Biscuits made with 4 or 5 ingredients are going to be your new favorite recipe.

Simple refrigerator biscuits are the star of this recipe along with either pie filling or fresh fruits, you can decide how simple you want to make this dessert treat.

These can be garnished with whipped cream or ice cream or just a sprinkle of cinnamon and sugar mixture.

There are so many possibilities to add to these refrigerator biscuits that you can have a new dessert every day of the week with my suggestions below.

This dough can be wrapped around fruits, and used on top of baked fruits in a casserole or muffin tin.

Any kind of filling will work including lemon curd, Nutella, and even peanut butter and jelly for a quick sweet dessert fix.

Easy Steps

  1. Unroll the package of refrigerator biscuits and set it on a cutting board
  2. Individual Turnovers: Either flatten each one, fill then sprinkle it with cinnamon sugar and bake or use the cobbler idea below
  3. Cobbler: Add the fruit to the casserole dish brown sugar, and butter top with biscuits
  4. Muffin Tin: spray the tin, and add the filling top with a biscuit. Dot with butter then cinnamon sugar
  5. Bake in a preheated oven to package instructions or until the top of the biscuits is evenly browned
  6. Serve with whipped cream, ice cream, or ice cream toppings as shown below which is heated caramel with apple pie filling inside
Note: if using a cookie sheet wrap the dough around the fruit of choice drizzle with cinnamon and sugar mixture if desired and bake as directed.





Different Kinds of Refrigerator Biscuit Easy Creations

Shopping List

  • butter
  • softened butter (do not use margarine)
  • brown sugar
  • fruits of choice(apples, pears, cherries, berries, banana, mango, peaches) or pie filling
  • refrigerator biscuits (I use buttermilk, crescent rolls, or plain)
  • cinnamon or another kind of spice you like
  • cooking spray oil
  • Garnish is optional: ice cream, whipped cream, ice cream toppings, nuts, coconut




Tool You Will Need:


  1. deep casserole dish, muffin tin, or cookie sheet
  2. a microwave-safe dish for melting butter
  3. measuring cup
  4. fork to seal the edges if making turnovers
  5. spatula or spoon
  6. cookie cutters for flower shapes or other fun shapes for appetizers or making them into pop tart shapes





Tips:


  • use a cookie cutter for pretty shapes
  • always preheat the oven and bake to the biscuit package directions
  • cut the fruit you use if fresh into small pieces
  • if using bananas, they can be cut around 3 or 4 inches long and wrapped with dough
  • fruit with high water content needs to be blotted dry
  • use any kind of refrigerator biscuits, crescent rolls honey flavored or regular flavors
  • a deep casserole, muffin tin, or cookie sheet can be used
  • keep these refrigerated and reheat in foil for leftovers
  • flatten crescent rolls, fill with pie filling, roll like a horn shape, and bake to package directions
  • make pop tarts rolling the dough top and bottom filled with jelly
  • drizzle with icing instead of cinnamon sugar after baking




Other Suggestions:


  • wrap the dough around the fruit for a dumpling dessert
  • top the fruit in a deep casserole dish for a cobbler-style dessert
  • these can be baked on a cookie sheet and drizzled with a butter and sugar-cinnamon mixture
  • if you're not a fruit lover try Nutella, coconut, and nut filling
  • sprinkle the top with crushed nuts or coconut before baking
  • use a different spice if you're not a cinnamon lover or flavored extract like lemon, orange or vanilla depending on the fruit you use

This is a simple fruit-filled or savory refrigerator biscuit made in less than 25 minutes and with many variations.

Ingredients

  • 1 package of refrigerator biscuits of any kind ( I use 10 in a package of buttermilk biscuits in a can of any brand)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon or allspice
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh fruits of choice or use any flavor can of pie filling of choice
  • Suggestions thin slice or diced: apples, peaches, pears, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, mango
  • cooking spray
  • Options: casserole  dish around 3 quarts, 12 cup muffin tin, a baking sheet around 3 inches in height

Instructions

  1. Casserole style:
  2. Melt butter, mix with sugar and cinnamon.
  3. Spray the casserole with cooking oil.
  4. Place fruit and cinnamon mixture on the bottom, then fruit.
  5. Add biscuits to the top of the fruit, and bake until browned on top around 15 minutes at 350 ( check the package for directions)
  6. Muffin Tin:
  7. Spray with cooking oil.
  8. Place fruit on the bottom then a few teaspoons of the cinnamon mixture, top with biscuit bake to package instructions or until biscuit is browned.
  9. Cookie sheet: spray with cooking spray or line with parchment paper.
  10. Place the biscuits in a single file around 3 inches apart. Top with fruit, drizzle with cinnamon mixture.
  11. Turnovers: flatten dough with your palm, add fruits roll up, or make a half moon style using fork tines seal. The rolls ups need to be seam side down, drizzle each with cinnamon mixture bake the same instructions above.
  12. Serving suggestions:
  13. Ice cream, whipped cream, or top with ice cream toppings
  14. Optional Filling Suggestions:
  15. if you're not a fruit lover try Nutella, coconut, and nut filling

More Quick Appetizers Ideas

  1. stuffed mushrooms and sprinkle the tops with chopped tomatoes and parsley
