Sunday, April 24, 2016
Raspberry Fried Flour Tortilla is filled with a sweet fruit and crispy shell on the outside then sauteed in melted butter. One of the easiest desserts I have ever made . You can really add any fruits you love inside these tortilla, but raspberry is my favorite.  you like for a filling. A versatile dessert inside or any savory filling makes these tortilla a special treat either way.  Go ahead and use your imagination! Since it's my birthday week I went and made these for myself and will make again real soon for my next dinner party.

A fun dessert to make!

Every year for my birthday I always make a delicious pistachio cake. This year I decided to change it up a bit because of my love for raspberry. These raspberry fried flour tortilla came together so quick and looked like it took me all day to make! I will definitely be making them around Cinco De Mayo again.

I have always thought that tortilla were just for savory meals. I only have had them stuffed with beans and meat. When I made this recipe, I was hooked on the sweet version using flour tortillas for good. They were so easy and in minutes I had a delicious dessert on the table. They are so impressive too! My family and friends couldn't believe they weren't crepes! I fooled everyone. I have since tried bananas with cinnamon on top, apple pie filling, peach pie filling and pumpkin pie filling that were all decadent and delicious. You can really get creative and make the filling to however your family likes them.

Raspberries make me think Summer is near!

What better way to come out of a long winter than make these delicious filled treats? Even though it's April showers bring May flowers, it's still a little chilly out there.. These raspberry flour tortilla with luscious raspberry filling will bring that summer feeling that surrounds you with the flavors. It sure brings me to a warm place in my mind while eating them with a smile.

So when you need an elegant dessert in a hurry, keep this one in mind. You can dress them up with some raspberries puree on top of the plate first,  for a more decadent look. Just add a handful of fresh berries to a blender with some sugar. Taste it for sweetness. Smear it on the plate, add your raspberry filled turnover and top with whole berries.  Sprinkle with powdered sugar. How simple is that?!

Powdered Sugar
Fresh Red Raspberries
Butter

Options:  around 2 tablespoons of filling to a tortilla, Nutella, Blueberry pie filling, Apple Pie filling, Lemon curd, Vanilla or Chocolate pudding, Bananas, cinnamon and nuts, strawberries sliced with strawberry jam or any fresh fruit mixed with same kind of jam flavor, 1 tablespoon cream cheese and cubed pineapple)

Directions: Place the tortilla on a cutting board or clean surface. Add whatever you like to the center of the tortilla and fold into a triangular shape.
In a medium size fry pan, melt butter.
Place folded down tortilla into the melted butter and saute until brown on one side and flip. Brown on the other side.

Garnish: with same fruit on top, favorite ice cream,  fruit of choice pureed, any kind of ice cream topping or syrups, whipped cream or just powdered sugar on top.
