Copycat Whaler with Homemade Tartar Sauce

Thursday, June 4, 2020
This copycat from the 1980s and this Whaler is pretty much a dead ringer in flavors!

The secret is in the tartar sauce, and seriously, it makes the sandwich fabulous!

The BK food chain has a light and flaky 100% Alaskan Pollock fillet topped with a delicious creamy tartar sauce and shredded lettuce on the potato bun.

I used everything except for the same kind of fish.

Years ago, when it debuted in 1975, the Big Fish sandwich has changed and evolved using different fish, but the buns; however, that delicious tartar sauce has stayed the same in taste.

I made my sandwich with fried haddock, also a delicious white flaky fish, using my fish fry recipe.

If you love the Whaler, you're in for a homemade treat in less than 25 minutes!

I love copycat recipes like my  Beef and Cheddar, and I also have a roundup of Copycat Recipes to try!

I always order mine with a slice of cheese, which is extra, but I really like the fish better with cheese; you can omit that part if you're not big on that.

So my copycat version is really one that I love to make, and the tartar sauce if fantastic, it totally complements this sandwich.

You can use any frozen, premade brand of fish in the supermarket or make your own.

Don't forget to pick up some shoestrings French fries, or make a seasoned style like my Italian fries to go with this delicious fish sandwich.

It's really super simple and quick if you're using all store-bought brands and not all homemade like I did.

Copycat Famous Recipe Roundup

Tuesday, September 17, 2019
I just love popular copycat recipes like Disneys Pineapple Dole Whip or famous menu items from popular restaurants, like this marvelous roundup of 25 recipes below.

Some are very famous and popular Nationally.

Through the years I recreated many of what we love and some of the most popular delicious great replicas until you can get to your favorite place!

It became an obsession to duplicate the recipes I enjoyed especially when we moved away and only visit some of our favorites once every few years.

I certainly love a good challenge in the kitchen.

Some of the recipes in this roundup may be very familiar and some are from my hometown bakeries where I grew up.

Starting out with Captain Crunch chicken that was a famous deep-fried chicken from Stallone's Planet Hollywood back in the 1980s. Its sweet coating became addicting after one bite and the chicken is dipped in homemade honey mustard.

Then on to present-day Longhorns Parmesan Crusted Chicken where it's smothered in melted cheese, ranch, and a crunchy parmesan topping and a favorite menu item.

I then have a love for the food court delicious bourbon chicken which I thought was the best mall food!!

Decadent desserts came easy, the one we really loved was at BJs brewhouse called pizooki, a warm macadamia nut cookie made into an ice cream sundae.

Last but not least my latest copycat Dole Whip From Disney's Theme Park in Orlando, a simple frozen fruity recipe that's printable at the bottom of this post, it's so refreshing and delicious!

Copycat Captain Crunch Chicken

Friday, December 8, 2017
Copycat Captain Crunch Chicken came from the kitchens of Sly Stallone's Planet Hollywood restaurant.

This unique chicken recipe became a customer favorite thanks to its incredibly crunchy coating made with crushed Cap'n Crunch cereal, creating the perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors.

Back in the early 1990 this sweet, crunchy coating on chicken made a memorable impact on my kids while visiting his restaurant and became a new rotation on our weekly menu.

We had great success baking these, and they kept that delicious flavor; however, we have provided an air fried versions and pan-fried instructions for the original recipe method to offer authentic results.

The honey mustard is made from scratch to get that whole experience because the store-bought ones just weren't the same taste we remembered.

Over the years, after trial and error, the chicken comes out just the way we love the crunchy, sweet, and salty coated chicken, and the honey mustard recipe is super easy, I promise.

If you're a fan of the 1950s-style Cornflake Chicken or Church Chicken, you're going to love this addition to your recipe collection.

The cereal caramelizes slightly as it cooks, producing an irresistibly crisp crust while keeping the chicken tender and juicy inside.

It's one of those recipes that surprises everyone with just how delicious it is.

Whether you're recreating a favorite restaurant meal or simply looking for a fun new chicken dinner, this copycat recipe is sure to become a family favorite.
