Saturday, October 24, 2009
You've probably heard about Death by Chocolate cakes before but have you ever tried Death by Chocolate Cookies? Well here is my favorite recipe for chocolate lovers out there.

If you want a loaded chocolate cookie that is bursting with creamy chunks of pure delight, this cookie will be your ultimate addiction.

These are so full of amazing chocolate flavor they sure don't last long even how decadently rich they are.

The name Death by Chocolate stays true to its name without hesitation, as they are over-the-top chuck full of chocolaty goodness from start to finish in every morsel.

Easy to make and the quickest off the cookie tray first, especially during a holiday.

Scroll down to the recipe card and bake a double batch, these won't last long!

A Chocolate Lovers Cookie Heaven

If you're a huge chocolate lover, you're favorite cookie just arrived right here.

These are so chocolatey and rich, you will be rolling your eyes with the flavors and the best part is they're easy to make.

Although we save this recipe for Halloween especially to decorate with orange and chocolate drizzle on top you can make them all year long (I won't blame you!)

Use any kind of chocolate you prefer, we just went overboard to please everyone and use all three milk, dark and semi-sweet (you can use white chips also!).

Tools

  1. microwave proof bowl
  2. spatula
  3. ice cream scoop
  4. measuring cups and spoons
  5. cookie sheets
  6. parchment paper

Other Additions

  • toffee chips
  • peanut butter chips
  • butterscotch chips
  • any kind of nuts
  • use vanilla instead of almond extracts or orange for Halloween
  • add a dash of cinnamon

Tips

  • Don't overbake these, just cook until set in the middle
  • Use canned frosting in a hurry (I get white and add a tint of some unsweetened cocoa powder
  • For uniform-sized cookies, use an ice cream scoop to drop them
  • Only chopped good-grade chocolate or any chocolate chips
  • Cool before frosting

  • unsweetened cocoa powder

Watch How Fast These Disappear

Seriously, when I first made them years ago, I had to bring them to every event.

My work employee looked so forward to these as they were brought in for a job well-done kind of thank you!

I look forward to hearing from you guys about what you think of this recipe!

A decadent dark, milk, and semi-sweet all-in-one fudgy death by chocolate cookie recipe!

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, melted
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter softened

  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chunks
  • 1/4 cup chopped macadamia nuts
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • unsweetened cocoa powder
  • water
  • see notes for more options

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line cookie sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a microwave-proof bowl, place the semi-sweet chocolate and microwave, stirring every minute until smooth.
  3. In a large mixing bowl add the butter and sugar and cream together until light and fluffy around 3 minutes.
  4. Add the melted chocolate and blend evenly.
  5. Beat in the eggs and almond extract.
  6. Mix in the dry ingredients into that mixture until a dough forms then add the nuts and other chocolate.
  7. I use a medium-sized ice scoop or tablespoon full of cookie dough and drop it on the lined baking sheets.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for around 10 to 12 minutes.
  9. Cool completed before frosting.
  10. .Add powdered sugar to a bowl of around 2 cups then some water just to make a thin free-flowing icing.
  11. For a chocolate flavor add 2 teaspoons of unsweetened cocoa powder.
  12. Note: you can melt chocolate white or dark and dip the cookies in that also instead.
  13. Divide it into two bowls and tint the frosting with holiday colors like orange for Halloween or green for Christmas.
  14. Dip each cookie into the frosting and use the color drizzle using a fork over the top.
  15. Let dry.
