Tips for Making Cornflake Holiday Wreaths

  • stir the marshmallows constantly on low to medium heat with butter until completely melted
  • add the green food coloring one drop at a time after the marshmallows are melted
  • when shaping the wreath, either use cooking spray oil on your index finger to make the hole in the center, or dip your finger in water (this prevents it from sticking). Use parchment paper instead of wax paper
  • if you added too many marshmallows and these stay sticky and don't set up right and harden the first time, add everything back to the pan and remelt the mixture with the cornflakes, stirring constantly and adding more cornflakes, proceed again ( I have done that several times!)

Easy to make marshmallow cornflake wreaths for the holiday cookie tray

Ingredients

  • 4 cups cornflakes or more
  • 1 bag of mini marshmallows ( 10 ounces of marshmallows) or around 30 large
  • 1 stick of butter (4 ounces)
  • green food coloring 1 or 2 drops
  • Red Hots cinnamon candy for decoration

Instructions

  1. Melt the marshmallows in a heavy-duty saucepan with butter.
  2. Add three drops of green food coloring to the pot and stir until all blended and melted together.
  3. Add the cornflakes.
  4. I use an ice cream scooper to make the rounds.
  5. Drop them onto parchment paper, and use the back of a teaspoon to make the center ring for the wreath (or as it cools your finger dipped in cold water works also) add the cinnamon red hots on the wreath for a pretty red holly look
  6. TIP: Parchment paper is so much better than the wax paper they won't stick at all!
