Here is a simple no candy thermometer penuche fudge that is buttery, creamy, and delicious with the addition of toasted pecans.

I have been making this easy fudge recipe for gift-giving for years along with a rich easy chocolate fudge combination it's perfect for hard-to-buy folks.

This fudge can be made with chocolate, white, or peanut butter and there are endless variations to add or leave plain.

Simple Penuche Fudge

  1. ALL directions and amounts are in a PRINTABLE RECIPE card scroll to the end hit Print
  2. prepare a fudge pan with parchment paper
  3. melt the butter and sugar together
  4. add the milk to a rolling boil
  5.  cool to room temperature
  6. stir in the extract, salt then beat in the powdered sugar
  7. refrigerate before trying to cut into squares

Ingredients You Will Need to Make Easy Fudge

  • butter
  • brown sugar
  • evaporated milk
  • vanilla, maple
  • pinch of salt
  • powdered sugar
  • Optional: walnuts, macadamia nuts, peanuts, hazelnuts, pistachios, pecans, funfetti, chopped maraschino cherries, dried fruits of any kind chopped like apricots or pineapple, craisin, raisins,  coconut

Combination Suggestions for Variety Fudge Flavors:

  • Macadamia nut Coconut
  • Walnuts, maraschino cherries
  • Theme-colored sprinkles, dried cranberries
  • Note: (must be completely cooled when folding in any kind of chips)
  • Peanut butter chips, peanuts 
  • Butterscotch chips, pecans
  • Coconut, cherries, pecans
  • Raisins, pecans
  • Orange zest, orange extract
  • Lemon zest, lemon extract

Penuche Fudge

This is a simple buttery light-colored penuche fudge with the addition of toasted pecans. It's a creamy delicious candy confection and great for gift-giving.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups brown sugar packed and leveled
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla or maple extract
  • 1 - can evaporated milk (12 ounce)
  • 1 cup toasted pecans, chopped ( toast at 400 degrees on a baking sheet for 15 minutes) or use any kind of nuts you prefer
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare a fudge rectangular pan with either cooking oil spray or line it with parchment paper (for easy removal) and set this aside.
  2. In a saucepan on low heat, add the butter and brown sugar and stir until the butter is completely melted.
  3. Add the milk and bring this to a rolling boil. Then remove this from the stovetop.
  4. Cool and let this sit out until just to room temperature.
  5. Stir in the extract, salt and blend evenly.
  6. Beat in the powdered sugar and nuts until completely blended.
  7. Pour into the prepared pan then refrigerate until firm around 2 to 3 hours.
  8. Cut in squares, wrap each one in plastic wrap, and place in a decorative tin with a lid for gift-giving or a covered plastic container.
  9. I store this in the refrigerator until ready to serve. This can be made up to two weeks ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator.

  2. I love penuche but it's hard to make the old-fashioned way, so I'm glad to see this recipe. One question: The evaporated milk, is it 5 oz or 12 oz can?

    1. Good question never saw 5 ounces before so I assumed there was only one size 12 p
      ounce which is the correct size
