String Bean Stew

Thursday, June 25, 2020
String Bean Stew was one of my favorites growing up (and dad raised a garden every year) mom often even used pole beans so either one will be amazing in this recipe if you're looking for a great bean stew recipe.

The summer is the best time with such an abundance of fresh farmers' market vegetables or from your own garden (if you are lucky enough to have one) and the beans are super fresh!

Mom made it a few ways with and without meat, most of the time in Italian red sauce but we give you the option for brown gravy as well below.

We included several suggestions for meat lovers in this recipe, plus many other vegetables to add to our stew recipe you may like to adapt to your preference.

There are also many cooking methods to use I will give you all the information in the instructions so this basic recipe is a win-win with many options available for your summer bounty of fresh vegetables.

This is a healthy delicious bowl with the best sauce to sop up with a freshly baked loaf of "No-Knead Bread" or my "No-Knead Garlic Rolls", another favorite recipe that goes along with this stew!

The basic recipe below can be adapted with so many other ingredients when it comes to vegetables you like, add or eliminate what you don't like.

Pressure Cooker Beer Stew

Monday, August 12, 2019
I have to admit I had never used the pressure cooker mode before and boy was I missing out!

This beer stew was the fastest, juiciest meat cooked in this new Crock-Pot Express that I have ever eaten.

The biggest difference between using the slow cooker method is, that this pot can sear first so the meat is browned in the same pot and so easy!

After searing in around 4 to 5 minutes, add ingredients, set it, and viola, it cooks in 35 minutes as opposed to 5 to 6 hours in the slow cooker.

The meat is fork-tender, and adding a little thickening to the pot for 5 more minutes made the juices thick and perfect for dipping your bread in, isn't that the best part?

The crockpot express version has really upped their game with appliances and recently getting this as a gift, I am thrilled with mine.

You can slow cook, pressure cook, steam, make rice and homemade yogurt, brown, saute, and much more, all with this one “fancy” appliance.

It has the same features as an instant pot so if that's what you own, then just follow the same recipe ingredients and setting on yours.

Now, if you prefer not to use a beer in your stew using apple juice is a great substitution!

Make sure you follow the step-by-step instructions in the recipe card and scroll down to print them off.

Read everything in your manual before starting.

Slow Cooker Guinness Beer Stew

Tuesday, July 25, 2017
Here is a Slow Cooker Guinness Beer Stew we make around St. Patrick's Day or during the colder months when you need a hearty dish to warm you up.

While the best way to may any stew is by slow cooking it, this can be done with many cooking methods including the stovetop or even baking in the oven.

Stew is one of those meals that anything can go into the pot and with a rich brown Guinness gravy this stew will be a favorite in your home the meat is fork-tender and delicious.

We just make a basic recipe and this one can be adapted with whatever your family prefers with vegetables so this isn't an Irish Stew, it's our version of a slow cooker beer stew easy one-pan meal.

If you're not fond of beer, use apple juice, it's a great substitute as long as it's unsweetened, and the stew will still be melded with wonderful flavors.

The best part is buying those inexpensive roasts of already cut-up stew meats that makes this a very economical meal to feed a large family.

I have used boneless pork, rump roast, and even chicken with this recipe so adapt away, the slow cooker will do all the magic.

The printable recipe card is at the bottom of the post so if you don't want to read through the tips below, scroll to the bottom of this page.

Any meats made with Guinness tenderizes them, the beer is also amazing in so many desserts and of course a great Irish beer to drink!

Through the years and holidays, I have tested and tried many beers and always come back to Guinness Beer for the flavor and best results.

These are some of the recipes I made for St. Patrick's Day to celebrate the Patron Saint Frances.

We have a special love for Slow Cooker Guinness Corned Beef and if there happen to be any leftovers, we make some simple Reuben sandwiches.

Each recipe is delightful in taste and I am sure there is something for everyone to try below.

Even if you're not Irish you can be for a day making some of the delicious recipes made with beer.
