Rise, Roll, Fill and Slice
I usually slice them between 2 to 3 inches with a very sharp floured knife.
You can make them as big or small as you prefer.
Always cover them and let them rise in a warm place, I usually turn my oven on to preheat it until they double in size, around 30 minutes after slicing.
Use a towel or plastic wrap to ensure no drafts get into the pan while rising.
Rolling the Dough
The dough is not firm, it's a sticky dough but not wet.
When the dough rises you will need to flour the board to roll out, this will keep the dough from being too sticky to roll up.
Remember not to overwork the dough with flour or they will not be tender and become dry.
Tips
- Milk and water need to be about 105 degrees, if it's too hot it kills the yeast
- Soften the butter and eggs to room temperature so it is soft and mixes in easily.
- Place the dough in a warm place covered with plastic wrap or towel to eliminate drafts
- The dough will be a little tacky, do not add too much flour
- Always preheat oven to 375 degrees
- Sweet Roll dough is basic and can be used for dinner rolls and other favorite fillings
- Let rise for at least 30 minutes after slicing the rolls
- Rolls are best served warm, reheat 10 seconds in the microwave
Suggestions for Sweet Roll Dough:
- Orange roll recipe included
- Sweet dinner rolls (just make knots and rise)
- Filled with any kind of solo filling (almond)
