Italian Butter Cookie Recipe

A pretty one for the tray around the holiday. These are simple and everyone always loves them. Little wreaths with tinted sliced almonds. All I do is add some green food coloring to the water, set the sliced almonds into the colored water until they turn green blot dry with a paper towel.

Italian Butter Cookie Recipe

1 cup butter
1 egg
3/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons almond extract
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
pinch of salt
2 1/2 cups flour

Beat the butter and sugar together till light and fluffy.
Add all remaining ingredients.
Roll into balls and flatten with a floured glass
Add a piece of cherry in the middle and green tinted sliced almond for the leaves.
Bake in a preheated oven of 350 until set around 8 to  10 minutes.
