Lamb Burgers with Spinach Tzatziki Sauce

Saturday, September 26, 2020
If you're looking for a great-tasting lamb patty/burger with homemade delicious tzatziki sauce , this recipe will be the last you need to look for.

I added a few other spice ingredients to this ground lamb to make the best-tasting lamb burger you'll ever taste and it's so easy to mix up in no time.

Using ground lamb with an array of seasonings makes such a difference in flavor and it's never gamey.
Fresh minced garlic, fresh herbs, coriander, and a splash of white wine and olive oil to cook them in make these juicy lamb burgers a win for any lamb lover.

No matter which cooking method you use, the burgers stay flavorful with lots of juice and deliciousness in every bite.

Also, try a little of our fabulous spinach tzatziki sauce also featured with this dish, and use any leftovers with our Homemade Pita Bread for dipping it in later it's truly scrumptious.

We love burgers and you may also want to try my Garlic Parmesan Burgers, Provolone Alfredo Burgers, or our Chili Cheese Dog Burgers all family favorites!

There are some tips and suggestions to follow that will help when adding spices to taste, I always like to cook just a little piece to adjust the seasonings to my taste.

Cooking Methods

Lamb tastes great on a charcoal or gas grill but indoor cooking is just fine when the weather doesn't permit that, just invest in a good grill pan.

Pan-fried or baked are my two recommendations using a gridded grill pan made from cast iron.

The grids allow any fat to stay trapped below the patties and then basting them with the juices keeps them from drying out.

If you decide to grill this outside, the nice char on the outside is a delicious addition to these lamb burgers.

Ingredients for this recipe(for exact measurements scroll to the printable recipe card)

  • ground lamb
  • minced garlic
  • granulated garlic powder
  • fresh or dried dill weed
  • coriander
  • dried oregano or 2 fresh sprigs chopped
  • fresh mint
  • fresh parsley
  • kosher salt
  • black pepper
  • cayenne pepper
  • white wine
  • olive oil
  • Spinach Tzatziki Sauce
  • frozen chopped spinach low fat, plain Greek yogurt
  • cucumber peeled and chopped
  • dried dill
  • fresh lemon
  • garlic finely minced

Tips:

  • Make the tzatziki sauce first and refrigerate it
  • Always use a grill pan made from cast iron for the best results
  • Lamb has plenty of grease so only lightly oil spray or lightly wipe the pan with oil to cook the burgers
  • Pita bread, rolls, or wraps are perfect for this lamb burger to serve in
  • These can be cooked outside on a grill, fried in a pan, or baked in the oven
  • Add more wine to the pan if needed while cooking
  • Substitute 1 can of black beans (or your favorite) and put through a food processor leaving chunks for meat for vegan style

Meat Substitutions:

  • Ground chicken or turkey
  • Ground pork
  • Ground beef
  • Ground ham
  • Note: add 1 egg to any of these suggested substitutions for lamb and 3 tablespoons bread crumbs
  • Any kind of pulsed and chunky canned beans you like instead of meat

Spinach Tzatziki Sauce

This is a Mediterranean-style sauce with cucumber, dill, lemon, and chopped spinach that makes a delicious topping and complements this burger with a blend of creamy Greek yogurt.

I love the flavors in this sauce or it's great served with any types of grilled meats you like.

Since the lamb is so flavorful with spices this sauce is perfect together.

We also like to serve this on the side with our burger to dip fresh vegetables, potato chips, or even seasoned french fries in it.

I love all kinds of toppings on burgers whether you're making lamb, beef or even turkey burgers, this tzatziki will be great on them for a refreshing crunchy change.

These burgers are very easy to make for any weeknight meal and will give you a Mediterranean food journey of wonderful flavors.

Remember you can add more or less spice, and my biggest secret for cooking is to always cook a taste so you know if seasoned properly to your family's preferences.
