Almond Cake

Monday, June 1, 2009
This is an all-made-from-scratch Almond Cake my Italian grandmother made for us back in the 1960s.

The cake recipe came from her Italian mother she learned to make this in Rome, Italy.

Although the cake is revised with a little drizzle of icing just for decoration, nothing was on her original cake, and was baked on a  very plain simple pie plate pan.

Through the years we adapted her recipe just a bit for presentation, you can make the simplicity of this by just leaving it topped with sugar and sliced almonds.

This can is rich in almond flavor and the perfect snack cake any time of the day!

Easy Steps for Almond Cake Recipe

  3. add the eggs
  4. stir in the flour and almond extract
  5. garnish with sugar and almonds
  6. bake at 350 for 45 minutes
  7. cool and glaze if desire

  6. Sounds like a great idea to add Almonds...unfortunately no one likes nuts in my house but me....but that would also look lovely on the cake...and a great suggestion for my readers. Thanks

  7. I love anything with amaretto in it, especially an after dinner cocktail of amaretto and cream on the rocks! But anyway, this cake looks amazing and I think I will give it a try.
