When I think about country style sliced baked apples, I immediately thick of a great side dish they have in many restaurants in the South. These apples are served on as a side with breakfast, lunch or dinner. The go great with ham, pork chops and pancakes. If you are an apple fan these country style apples are going to be made often in your home!

Down here in Florida we have numerous local diners that serve these. I always order these country style sliced baked apples with my breakfast, especially if it's later in the morning closer to lunch. I really love them as a side dish with waffles, pancakes or even with a pulled pork sandwich. A great alternative to get a little sweetness almost dessert like apple to go with your meal.

Pork chops are perfect with these country style apples. I used to always serve applesauce with my pork meals. Since I made this recipe, these are first in mind for a side dish when I have a tenderloin pork roast or even a pulled pork sandwich. The recipe is easy to make. The kids absolutely love them.

Country Style Apples


4 cup sliced apples
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup flour
1 stick butter
1/2 cup water
Pinch of salt
Dash of cinnamon

Place apples in baking dish 9x13. Mix sugar, flour and butter until crumbly; sprinkle over apples. Add water, salt and cinnamon. Bake at 350 degrees until done and slightly brown.

Apple and cinnamon: I love this combination! I prepare a similar recipe without salt, but the idea to use it as side dish is very interesting. Bye dear, have a nice day

How long is the cooking time for these?? I have them in the oven now & its been like 30 min & the apples are still hard? Should I add more water because the mix is also getting really thick? They look & smell amazing I dont wanna mess this up;)

Anoynomous, using mcintosh takes around 1 hour till they get brown. I only use baking apples, not quite sure what kind you used. But the way to know they're done is when the fork goes through them easily. Hope that helps you...
