I was going back and forth on what flavors I wanted to add to get ready for the grill. I had seen blackened, salsa, fried, and grilled recipes that were all options, but my favorite recipe to make and eat fish, always ends up grilled. So this Grilled Italian Herb has more of a lemony style flavor. I decided that this was the one for me to experiment on~ wow was my husband pleased at my decision...it was really really delicious, Mahi and lemon were the perfect match!
1 lb Mahi Mahi
1 tablespoon of lemon zest
lemon slices enough for each piece
1/2 teaspoon each parsley, dill, garlic powder, black pepper, paprika, basil, oregano, cayenne pepper
2 cloves garlic (finely chopped or minced)
2 tablespoon lemon juice
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon of lemon zest
lemon slices enough for each piece
1/2 teaspoon each parsley, dill, garlic powder, black pepper, paprika, basil, oregano, cayenne pepper
2 cloves garlic (finely chopped or minced)
2 tablespoon lemon juice
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
Mix all the ingredients of the marinade together in a bowl. Add in the pieces of Mahi Mahi. Mix well. Cover and refrigerate for approximately two hours. Heat the grill, brush with some olive oil and add the pieces of the fish. Top with slices of lemon and grill on each side till brown on both sides around 5 minutes on each side. Serve.
That is a HUGE fish! And how lucky that you had some.
ReplyDeleteFreshly caught fish, fresh herbs and seasoning. Wow! I bet it melted in your mouth. Good luck getting your pool ready. We are about 12" away from being full.
ReplyDeletemy goodness! That is as fresh as fresh gets! (You and I must be on the same wavelength because I just made mahi mahi, too! Although yours looks much more appealing!)
ReplyDeleteGreat catch and it don't get any fresher that that either!
ReplyDeleteWith fish, the fresher the better and you cannot get any fresher than a new catch. It is luscious. I love it simply - lemony tang and herbs and that grand grill flavor. It is a wonder. Congrats on your prize! You had a fun day!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely dish! It looks so flavorful and healthy!
ReplyDeleteThat is one big fish! I'm afraid I have to get my mahi mahi at Costco, and I haven't tried it on the grill. Since we are remodeling the kitchen and I don't have a stove, the grill is calling my name. I'll have to get some mahi mahi.
ReplyDeletelemon and grilled fish is always a wonderful combination. daniel is drooling with jealousy, getting fresh fish is one thing we miss living in landlocked ohio. your pictures for this turned out absolutely wonderful.

ReplyDeleteA giant fish! When I was still living with my mom at home, there used to be lots of fresh catches on the dinner table, as my brother went fishing almost every weekend. I really miss it.
ReplyDeleteThe cat under the table! LOL I just love her face expression...
I love Mahi Mahi, and I LOVE all the spices in your marinade! So healthy and delicious.
ReplyDeleteThis fish is just making me drool all over the keyboard!!! WOW!!!!
ReplyDeleteI have to try that recipe. Everytime I've cooked Mahi Mahi and when ordering it from good restaurants, I've been very disappointed with the lack of flavor.
ReplyDeleteI'm up for one more go.
It looks too good not to try.
That's what i love about Florida, being able to catch your own fish and cook it immediately. Too bad we're going to lose this great privilege soon with the oil spill reaching our waters within two weeks. I had mahi mahi, that my husband caught right in our back yard, about a week ago. The taste of fresh fish can't be compared to anything else. I'm going to miss having this privilege
ReplyDeleteThis looks so good, and even better, easy to make!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of Mahi Mahi, but that fish looks gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHow nice of your co-worker to share his gigantic catch with you! The fish looks fantastic! And congrats on your prize package - enjoy.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like So Delicious
ReplyDeleteNow that is an amazing fish! And it looks as though you cooked it perfectly.
ReplyDeleteHow sweet of your co-worker to share. Your grilled Mahi Mahi with Lemon Herbs looks juicy, sounds flavorful and is photographed beautifully.
ReplyDeleteAh, nothing is better than a simple grilled fish, perfectly seasoned as you have done. I can't imagine catching a fish the big! I would fall right back into the water, lol!
ReplyDeleteThe fish is HUGE! Gee, you guys are lucky to enjoy the fish with your friend. My hubby had also caught this kind of fish before but a little smaller than this. I used to deep fried the meat and then braised with hot sauce. Yours look really yummy too! Mouthwatering! Hope you're having a great weekend, Claudia.
ReplyDeleteCheers, Kristy
Its really a great combo!! Wish to taste it.My mouth is watering. Well you enjoyed the celebration very nicely:)
