Zucchini fries are either lightly breaded or shaken in seasoned flour then any cooking method you chose turns into a delicious way to serve them.
We love these either dipped in marinara sauce or even in a homemade ranch dressing but there are several dipping sauces I make you can choose from.

Easy Steps to Remember for Baked, Fried, or Air Fried
Shake in flour, dip in beaten egg, roll in breadcrumbs, spray with cooking oil spray.
We love ours served with a side of marinara sauce.
I have made all three methods for cooking zucchini fries and here's what you need to know.
Air Fried is the healthier version of cooking methods for this recipe using less oil.
Deep frying of course is the other alternative to cooking them and will contain more fat.

Tools You Will Need:
- Parchment paper for baking
- Aluminum foil for air frying
- Frying pan for deep frying
- Measuring spoon
- Tongs
- Paper towels for draining the grease when frying
Other Vegetables To Try:
- Broccoli
- Cauliflower
- Brussels sprouts
- Pickles
- Carrot sticks
- Okra

Ingredients You Will Need
- zucchini
- grated parmesan romano cheese blended and more for garnish
- panko bread crumbs or diabetic version use ground pork rinds
- granulated garlic powder
- dried oregano, basil, and parsley
- Italian flavored breadcrumbs
- olive oil
- flour
- salt and pepper to taste
- water or beaten egg/eggwhites
- Garnish: more grated cheese and marinara sauce for dipping
Tips:
- For air frying: always air fry at 400 degrees, oil spray the zucchini before air frying
- For deep frying: heat the oil first until it reaches 375 degrees before adding to the pan
- For baking: oil spray the zucchini after they are breaded then bake on parchment paper until browned and crispy around 15 to 25 minutes

If you are looking for an easy recipe on how to make air-fried zucchini or other cooking methods, you came to the right place.
I use the same basic ingredients on all my vegetables and depending on your diet there are instructions to make these healthy or old-fashioned deep-fried methods
One problem with all of these scrumptious zucchini recipes, you just can't stop eating them they are all so delicious especially dipped in marinara and sprinkled with Pecorino Romano cheese.

Baked or Air Fried Zucchini Fries

Here are recipes on how to make zucchini fries baked, air fried, or deep-fried with two different coatings we love for you to try. All
cooking methods are in the complete printable instructions.
Ingredients
- 3 small zucchini sliced lengthwise then into sticks
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan romano cheese blended and more for garnish
- 1 cup Italian flavored panko bread crumbs or more
- 1 teaspoon granulated garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon each of dried oregano, basil, and parsley
- 1/4 cup Italian flavored breadcrumbs or use crushed pork rinds for diabetic versions
- cooking oil spray
- 2 eggs and 3 tablespoons water beaten together to dip them in water
- flour enough to coat both sides of the zucchini
- Garnish: more grated cheese and marinara sauce for dipping
- Note: For Deep Frying Zucchini: I use a flour coating instead of bread crumbs (or almond flour for anyone that needs a diabetic version omit the cornstarch when using almond flour).
- Rinse zucchini sticks or slices, dredge in flour then in egg then in pork rinds crushed
- See notes below for air frying.
- Note: you can also dip them in egg then in just seasoned flour and bake spraying them with cooking oil if you do not want the additional breadcrumb coating
Instructions
- Mix the breadcrumbs with all the herbs, cheese, spices, and seasonings and set aside.
- Add the flour to a bag or pie plate
- Place the beaten egg in a deep pie plate with water.
- Cut the zucchini into long sticks even in length, or sliced about 1/4 inch in thickness.
- In a large plastic bag add flour.
- Add zucchini to a plastic bag and shake in flour (or use a pie plate with flour in it.)
- Dip the zucchini in egg then in breadcrumbs
- Spray them with cooking oil.
- Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet or if air frying spray the basket with cooking oil spray and the top of the zucchini.
- Baked Method:
- Heat oven to 400 degrees
- Spray the zucchini with cooking oil spray.
- Bake until golden brown they do not usually need turning the oil will crisp them. around 15 minutes.
- If you would like them crispier broil the tops for a few minutes on low then turn them.
- Alternative Cooking methods:
- For Air Frying: I use regular or panko breading for air frying.
- Place them on an oil-sprayed basket, in the air fryer in a single formation.
- Air fry them for 12 minutes at 400 degrees and check to see if they are crispy and browned.
- For deep-frying:
- Heat the oil on medium heat and fry until golden brown on both sides.
- Drain on paper towels.
- Serve with Italian marinara sauce and more grated cheese on top.
- Note: you can also sprinkle the top with oregano, chopped fresh basil, and shredded mozzarella as a garnish,

ReplyDeleteI love zucchini fries...they are one of my all time appetizers. I remember about 30 years ago, a sweet little Italian lady (friend of family) gave me the recipe and instruction, but that was for deep frying, and in those days they didn't have Panko.
