Cooking Methods For Making Chicken Wings

  • Baked: bake at 400 degrees on oil sprayed baking sheet until golden brown turning once
  • Air Fried: set the air frier to 425 degrees for 25 minutes using an oil-sprayed basket
  • Broiled: set the broiler on medium-high heat, and place it on an oil-sprayed broiler pan for 40 minutes turning often
  • Grilled: Heat the grill on medium heat, oil spray the grates first before heating then add wings and grill until charred around 25 minutes turning once
  • Pan-Fried: using a deep chicken fryer heat 2 inches of oil and fry the wings until browned on both sides and crispy
  • Slow Cooker: brown wings on the stovetop first then add to the slow cooker adding 1/2 cup beer to the sauce of choice, and set on high for 6 hours.
  • Smoked: Heat the smoker to 275 using pecan or applewood chips, and place the wings in a foil pan. Smoke them for 3 hours at 275 degrees,
  • Deep-Fried: Heat the deep fryer to 425 degrees, spray the basket with oil cooking spray and deep fry do not crowd wings this takes around 15 minutes per batch.

Note: We love them smoked, grilled or baked, or air fried, you can deep fry if you prefer your wings that way.

Tips

  1. make your dipping sauces the day before for the best melding the best flavors
  2. store any leftover sauces in small covered mason jars
  3. the sauce will last up to 1 week refrigerated
  4. If make a large batch freeze a portion in plastic containers then thaw it in the refrigerator
  5. if adding onion to any of the recipes add them just before serving as they get more pronounced in flavor and overpower the flavors

Chicken Wing Dipping Sauce 18 kinds of Recipes

This is a great assortment of dipping sauces for all the chicken and chicken wing needs. These tasty sauces are great for just about any meats you're cooking and all easy to prepare,

Ingredients

  • Homemade Old Fashioned Ketchup recipe Ingredients:
  • 48 peeled ripe tomatoes (around 8 pounds)
  • 2 green peppers chopped
  • 2 red peppers chopped
  • 4 white onions chopped
  • 3 cups of granulated sugar
  • 3 cups of white vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons salt
  • 1 -- 1/2 teaspoons each of ground clove, ground allspice, and ground cinnamon
  • 3 teaspoons ground mustard

Instructions

  1. Homemade Old Fashioned Ketchup Instructions:
  2. Boil the tomatoes, onions, and pepper until tender around 35 minutes.
  3. Run these through a food mill or strainer.
  4. Continue boiling the strained mixture and add the rest of the ingredients until thick.
  5. This takes approximately 35 minutes or more.
  6. Note: You may have to press this through a sieve one more time to get it smooth.
  7. Ladle into mason jars.
  8. Ketchup will keep 3 weeks in the fridge or 6 months in the freezer.
  9. Apricot Sauce Dip :
  10. In a medium bowl, stir together
  11. one 12-ounce jar of apricot preserves (1 cup),
  12. 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar,
  13. 1 tablespoon soy sauce,
  14. and 1/4 teaspoon grated orange peel. Makes about 1 1/4 cups. (Great on grilled Salmon too!) If you like a pina colada dip click here.
  15. Honey Mustard Sauce Dip:
  16. In a medium bowl, stir together
  17. 2/3 cup Dijon mustard,
  18. 1/4 cup sour cream,
  19. 1/4 cup honey,
  20. and 3/4 teaspoon Worcestershire. Makes about 1 1/4 cups.
  21. Buffalo Wing Sauce Dip:
  22. 2 oz cream cheese, softened at room temperature
  23. 4 oz bottle of blue cheese dressing
  24. 1/4 cup of bottle Frank’s hot sauce (or your favorite buffalo wing or hot sauce)
  25. 1/4 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  26. Microwave for around 1 minute for the cheese to melt. Add more blue cheese if too thick and hot sauce.
  27. Classic Traditional Hot Sauce For Buffalo Wings:
  28. 1 bottle hot sauce (Franks or another brand) 12 oz
  29. 1 stick of butter melted
  30. pinch of garlic powder, and cayenne for more heat as needed)
  31. 2 teaspoons honey
  32. Mix the hot sauce melted butter, spices, and honey in a bowl. Pour over hot-cooked wings
  33. Chili Lime Dipping Sauce:
  34. 2 tablespoons of jalapeno pepper chopped finely
  35. 1 tablespoon chili sauce
  36. 1/2 cup lime juice
  37. 1/3 cup chicken stock
  38. 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro (coriander leaves)
  39. 2 cloves garlic
  40. 1 teaspoon sugar
  41. 1/4 teaspoon salt
  42. Preparation:
  43. Combine all ingredients in a blender and mix until smooth. Pour into a saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and allow to cool. Serve warm.
  44. Ranch Dipping Sauce:
  45. 3/4 cup plain yogurt
  46. 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  47. 1 (1 ounce) package of ranch dressing mix
  48. 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  49. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, blend yogurt, mayonnaise, and ranch dressing mix. Mix well with a wire whisk. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Sprinkle with parsley before serving.
  50. Sun-dried Tomato Aïoli Dipping Sauce:
  51. 1 1/2 cups light mayonnaise
  52. 1/3 cup firmly packed sun-dried tomatoes in oil, drained
  53. 1/4 cup milk
  54. 1 garlic clove
  55. 2 teaspoons chopped fresh rosemary
  56. 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  57. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  58. 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
  59. Process all ingredients in a food processor for 15 seconds or until smooth, stopping to scrape down sides as needed. Cover and chill until ready to serve. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week
  60. Herb Dipping Sauce:
  61. 2 garlic cloves
  62. 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, stems removed
  63. 2 teaspoons oregano
  64. 1 cup fresh chopped parsley
  65. 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  66. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  67. 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
  68. 1/2 cup warm water
  69. 1/2 cup olive oil
  70. 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  71. Process garlic in a food processor for 20 seconds or until minced. Add basil and the next 5 ingredients; process for 10 seconds. Whisk in the rest of the ingredients.
  72. Teriyaki Dipping Sauce:
  73. 1 1/2 cloves minced garlic
  74. 4 teaspoons oil
  75. 8 tablespoons sherry wine
  76. 8 tablespoons soy sauce
  77. 2 tablespoons toasted sesame sees
  78. 4 tablespoons brown sugar
  79. 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  80. 4 teaspoons cornstarch
  81. 4 tablespoons water
  82. In a bowl, combine garlic, sherry wine, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame seeds, and red pepper flakes, and mix well. Heat in a small saucepan. In a small bowl mix cornstarch with cold water, and add to the hot mixture till thickens.
  83. Bleu Cheese Dipping Sauce:
  84. 1 cup sour cream
  85. 1/2 cup heavy cream
  86. 16 ounces blue cheese
  87. 2 tsp hot red pepper sauce
  88. 1 tsp Worcestershire
  89. 1 tsp salt
  90. optional: 1 tablespoon celery
  91. Place all the ingredients in a food processor or blender and process on high speed until smooth, about 2 minutes.
  92. Curry sauce
  93. 2 tablespoons olive oil
  94. 1 tablespoon butter
  95. 1 cup chicken broth
  96. 1/2 cup dry white wine
  97. 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley or about 1 tablespoon dried
  98. 4 cloves garlic, finely minced
  99. 1 1/2 teaspoons curry powder, or to taste
  100. 3/4 cup heavy cream
  101. Salt, to taste
  102. In a saucepan, add the chicken broth, wine, parsley, garlic, and curry powder. Bring to a boil; reduce heat to medium-low and simmer, uncovered, for 5 minutes. Cover and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes longer. Stir in cream and add salt, to taste. Heat through. Dip wings in the sauce.
  103. Cajun Remoulade Sauce:
  104. 2 cups mayonnaise
  105. 2 tablespoons ketchup
  106. 2 tablespoons creole mustard, cajun mustard, or deli-style mustard
  107. 1 tablespoon fresh chopped parsley
  108. 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
  109. 1 tablespoon lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
  110. 2 teaspoons prepared horseradish or more if you like
  111. 2 garlic cloves
  112. 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  113. 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  114. 1 teaspoon celery salt
  115. 1 1/2 teaspoons paprika
  116. Mix all together using a hand-held blender, or mixer, and store in a glass jar used for dipping chicken wings.
  117. Bourbon Dipping Sauce:
  118. 1/3 cup Diced Red Onion
  119. 1/2 teaspoon Finely Diced Garlic
  120. 1/2 cup Water
  121. 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
  122. 1/3 cup Teriyaki Sauce
  123. 1/4 cup Soy Sauce
  124. 1/3 cup White Grape Juice or substitute 2 tablespoons grape jelly mixed with water to make 1/3 cup
  125. 1/2 cup Bourbon
  126. 1/2 teaspoon Tabasco Sauce
  127. Place ingredients in a saucepan in the order listed. Mix and stir after each ingredient. Place on medium heat and stir until the mixture reaches the boiling stage. Turn the temperature down to low until the mixture is on a slow simmer. Cook sauce for 35 – 45 minutes and remove from heat. The mixture will have reduced in volume by about a 1/4 to 1/3.
  128. Pizza Dipping Sauce:
  129. 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
  130. 2 oz cream cream
  131. 1/8 teaspoon crushed red pepper, optional
  132. 1/2 c. canned or homemade pizza sauce
  133. 1/4 cup shredded provolone
  134. 1/4 cup Mozzarella cheese, shredded
  135. 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
  136. Combine spices, and cheeses. Add sauce. Microwave for 5 to 7 minutes.
  137. Salsa Cheese Dipping Sauce
  138. 1 16 oz package of sharp cheddar cheese
  139. 1 8 oz jar Picante sauce or salsa medium heat
  140. 1 tablespoon finely chopped black olives
  141. Microwave till cheese melts and transfer to a crockpot on warm.
  142. Asian Peanut Butter Dipping Sauce:
  143. 1/3 cup smooth peanut butter
  144. 1 garlic clove
  145. 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  146. 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  147. 1 teaspoon sugar
  148. 1/8 teaspoon cayenne, or to taste
  149. 1/3 cup water
  150. Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  151. In a blender puree together peanut butter, garlic, lime juice, soy sauce, sugar, cayenne, water, salt, and pepper until the mixture is smooth.
  152. Transfer the sauce to a serving bowl.
  153. Makes about 1 cup.
  154. Greek sauce:
  155. 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  156. 1/2 cup chopped peeled cucumber
  157. 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese
  158. 2 tablespoons snipped fresh dill or 2 teaspoons dill weed
  159. 1 garlic clove, peeled
  160. Dash salt
  161. In a blender, combine the sauce ingredients; cover and process until smooth. Transfer to a small bowl; cover and refrigerate until serving.
  162. Salsa Sauce:
  163. 3 tablespoons finely chopped onion
  164. 2 small cloves garlic, minced
  165. 3 large ripe tomatoes, peeled and seeds removed, chopped
  166. 2 hot chile peppers, Serrano or Jalapeno, finely chopped
  167. 2 to 3 tablespoons minced cilantro
  168. 1 1/2 to 2 tablespoons lime juice
  169. salt and pepper
  170. Rinse off in a strainer chopped onion and garlic with hot water and pat dry. Place all other ingredients in a bowl or a food processor and pulse a few times and mix together. Serve with chicken wings.
  171. Creamy Parmesan Dipping Sauce:
  172. 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  173. 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  174. 1/4 cup buttermilk
  175. 1 1/2 teaspoons minced garlic
  176. 1 teaspoon minced fresh parsley
  177. 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
  178. Whisk all together in a bowl. Lasts around a week in the refrigerator.
  179. Caesar Dipping Sauce:
  180. 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  181. 1 1/2 cups mayonnaise
  182. 4 tablespoons sour cream
  183. 1/2 the juice on a fresh lemon
  184. 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  185. 1 teaspoon dijon mustard
  186. 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  187. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  188. 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  189. Place all ingredients in a food blender or food processor until it's smooth
  190. Makes 1 1/2 cups
  191. Alfredo:
  192. 1/2 cup parmesan cheese grated
  193. 1 cup heavy cream
  194. 2 tablespoon butter
  195. 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  196. 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
  197. white pepper to taste
  198. 1/2 cup chicken broth
  199. In a medium saucepan add broth, butter garlic, and pepper, and bring to a boil. Add heavy cream, and cook until thick and creamy. Stir in cheese.
