Rice Krispie Treat Lovers We Got You Covered

So you may just love the plain simple treats with just marshmallows and rice cereal right?

Just switch back to plain white rice krispies and you can just omit the drizzle for the originals.

The only difference is we like them softer and not hard as a rock so we adapted the recipe with more butter to make that happen.

Prep time: 5 MinCook time: 5 MinTotal time: 10 Min

Ingredients

  • 1 stick (1/2 cup) butter
  • 1- 10-ounce bag of mini marshmallows
  • 6 cups chocolate rice krispie cereal or use regular if you want to make the original style
  • Nutella

Instructions

  1. I use a heavy-duty saucepan, melt the butter on low, I NEVER use margarine.
  2. Note: We prefer to use chocolate Krispy cereal so I use that kind instead of the white version however either is fine.
  3. Melt the butter, and add the marshmallows, stirring constantly until just melted, do not scorch or overcook, or your squares will be hard as a rock.
  4. Add the cereal, blending quickly.
  5. Pour into parchment lined pan. I prefer using a 10 x 10 square small pan to make them thicker.
  6. Tips: use only fresh marshmallows and chocolate Krispie cereal for the best results.
  7. When pouring the hot mixture into a parchment-lined pan ( square baking pan) I like to pat it down with a spatula and to make them evenly pressed together.
  8. Cool before cutting.
  9. The last thing I do is drizzle some Nutella on top before serving using a fork.
