Sausage and Broccoli Rabe Pizza

Tuesday, January 31, 2017
One of our favorite pizzas is made with fresh sauteed broccoli rabe and you can make this all-vegetarian however, we have some sausage lovers and mushrooms so we made these two different ways to satisfy everyone.

If you're here for the broccoli rabe, then the secret it to saute that in garlic first before proceeding for a fabulous flavored Italian green delight on your pizza.

We also love freshly sliced plum tomatoes on top, however, if you're going to go for canned do get the seeds squeezed out so you don't down it in liquid.

Only use olive oil, whole milk mozzarella cheese,  however, when you can find buffalo cheese it's the freshest and most delicious.

Adapt this pizza however your family likes it, if you're not fond of this green, use spinach, we just love the homemade dough for this pizza, sauteed broccoli rabe, our homemade sausage and it's a true specialty!

Making the Best Pizza Dough and Toppings

So how do you please everyone?

Pizza can be made in so many different ways, even using a cupcake tin for individual picky eaters!

We've over the years used even mini muffin tins to make bagel bite-style pizza.

The easiest way I find it to make half the pizza with broccoli rabe, sausage, mushroom and cheese and the other plain cheese it's a win-win for all.

If your family loves ham and pineapple go for it, I have never been a fan but whatever you like you need to convert your pizza to however you prefer.

Creations are born every day and another style of pizza with love is garlic and oil pizza with mozzarella and loaded with shrimp.

Remember recipes are basic and everyone has a different taste, so nothing is written in stone, if you're not a fan it's fine but our PIZZA DOUGH is fantastic, so start there and also try our HOMEMADE PIZZA SAUCE.

You can use spinach instead of broccoli, or another favorite green is arugula a little peppery flavor, another fun topping are meatballs crushed, or loaded it up with pepperoni and the list goes on and on.

Broccoli Rabe and sausage is a match made in heaven and we love this the best out of all the pizza pies we make.

The Best Pizza is Homemade

A pizza topped with broccoli rabe and sausage is both alluring and so gourmet.

It’s a real crowd pleaser in my house, neck and neck with the iconic tomato and mozzarella style Sicilian way.

Again if you need a quick meal, use good store-bought dough then prepare just the topping from scratch.

All you’ll need to do is saute the Italian sausage and broccoli rabe and top the pie all links are in the recipe card on how to.

  3. I've never tried using marinara sauce and broccoli for pizza before. I think this is a great idea for encouraging my kids to eat their veggies!

By the way, which type of tomatoes do you think best goes with marinara sauce? I think San Marzano tomatoes are ideal but they're a bit hard to find. Would really appreciate some help. Thanks!

  4. hello Christine,
I am thankful to live in a hot area where we get fresh vegetables all year long and they are very inexpensive. I buy 3 to 4 pounds of plum tomatoes a week to make sauces.
But if I had to choose a brand I really do love San Marzano, Cento brands. thanks for your kind comments
