Watermelon Limeade

If you're looking to hydrate with a delicious summer beverage this Watermelon Limeade will be your new favorite drink to make.

This is healthy thirst-quenching drink will do the trick on a hot summer day when you're having fun in the sun or just on a relaxing day at the beach.

Although the drink has an option to sweeten it, I personally don't mind it at all with just the sweetness from the natural juices in the watermelon.

The recipe gives you the option of sweeteners also to keep this as healthy and low calorie as possible.

Everyone knows that watermelon is almost all water, so the skies the limit in drinking and will keep that summer body in check if you're trying not to gain unwanted pounds from all those cookouts.

Also, other juice can be substituted like, pear, pineapple, peach, mango, papaya, and orange are all great substitutes for watermelon.

For all our watermelon fans out there we also have a delicious Watermelon Basil Salad, Watermelon Sorbet, and a wonderful Watermelon Fruit Bowl for that summer holiday get-togethers.

Summer Drinks

Did you know that watery fruit and vegetables often contain levels of minerals and natural sugar so they can hydrate you more effectively than water alone?

Watermelon is the superstar of hydration and is composed of 92 percent water, eight percent sugar and contains essential rehydration salts calcium, magnesium, potassium, and sodium.

This delicious beverage will cool you off in warmer weather and you can drink loads of it and not worry about your waistline because they have very few calories, if any, depending on what you choose for ingredients.

Perfect to bring along to the beach packed in ice, parties, and of course for entertaining guests.

The best part about this healthy drink, it's perfect for kids and leftovers can be turned into an adult beverage later at night if you prefer.

Calorie Burning

Because 90 percent of a watermelon's weight is water, it's one of the best fruits to eat if you're trying to lose weight, however, you have to eliminate the added sugar in the recipe.

It's also a great source of an amino acid called arginine, which helps burn fat quickly.

This is a refreshing beverage for those hot summer days. Watermelon with lime will quench your thirst and keep you hydrated. Perfect for those scorching sunny beach days.

Ingredients

  • 8 cups cubed watermelon seeded, (to make the equivalent of 1 quart watermelon juice)
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
  • Sweetening your drink:
  • I prefer mine with the natural sugar produced from the watermelon and tartness of lime, however, if you need to sweeten your drink use: 1/2 cup sugar or more to taste (or substitute with the equivalent of an artificial sweetener)
  • Optional: lime slices, and watermelon chunks on skewers for garnish
  • Note: For an Adult Beverage:  add 1 ounce of your favorite alcoholic spirits to a glass.

Instructions

  1. Place half of the watermelon cubes in a food processor or blender and pulse until totally smooth.
  2. Using a strainer or cheesecloth, sieve the melon over a large bowl to extract juices and discard the solids.
  3. Repeat with the remaining watermelon to extract 1 quart of juice.
  4. Stir in the lime juice and sweeten the juice to taste, and the sugar has dissolved.
  5. Pour into a pitcher and chill.
  6. Serve over ice and garnish.
  7. Note: vodka, tequila, or other fruit-flavored vodka go great with this if you're looking for an adult beverage.
