I always thought bananas need to be utilized more often with this banana spice cake mix cake it's over the top yummy!



If you need to get rid of those ripe bananas you just found the best tasting cake around.



Doesn't need a thing other than a dusting of powdered sugar or better yet cinnamon sugar.



This is the best cake for tea, coffee, or just because you need a sweet pick me up.



I have made delicious Sour Cream Coffee Cupcakes using a cake mix, cookies, and even a Scrumptious Banana Cake Mix Cake that all taste like they were from scratch!



It's so easy I feel guilty calling this a recipe!

Easy Doctored Cakes



This is one of those recipes that everyone loves at an adult party.


The cake is soaked with a buttery rum and with a spice cake it's the perfect combination of flavors.


This is just an option as the cake will taste great with a dollop of just whipped cream or even a light dusting of powdered sugar.

Ingredients You will Need for Banana Spice Cake Mix Recipe


  • cake mix spice cake flavored (18.25 size)
  • box instant vanilla pudding
  • mashed very ripe bananas
  • eggs
  • water
  • oil
  • Optional Glaze
  • dark or light rum
  • water
  • sugar
  • butter

Banana Spice Cake Mix Recipe

Prep time: 10 MCook time: 55 MTotal time: 65 M
This is a doctored cake mix using instant pudding, spice cake mix and bananas. The cake can be made with to without the alcohol glaze with is made with butter and rum.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cake mix spice cake flavored (18.25 size)
  • 1 box instant vanilla pudding
  • 3 mashed very ripe bananas
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • Optional Rum Glaze Adult Topping:
  • 1/2 cup dark or light rum
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter

Instructions:

  1. Cake Directions:
  2. Place in a large mixing bowl and beat around 4 minutes with an electric beater. 
  3. Pour into 13x9 greased pan or bundt pan.
  4.  Bake in a preheated oven at a  350-degree oven
  5. Use the toothpick method in the center middle, when it comes out clean it done baking. This usually takes around 50 to 55 minutes.
  6. Cool completely unless making the rum glazed cake then proceed with optional rum glaze. 
  7. Garnish: Top with real whipped cream and cinnamon sugar or just powdered sugar. 
  8. Store leftover cake in the refrigerator.
  9. Glaze Directions:
  10. Boil all ingredients for this optional glaze together for 5 minutes. 
  11. After the cake is cooked, poke holes evenly all over the cooked cake while warm and pour this mixture over the cake.
  12. Note: The longer this cake stays in the refrigerator the stronger it gets in alcohol taste.

  5. Just made this and it is delicious - I used mini bunt pans which came out perfectly. I didn't make the glaze however this is so good it doesn't even need a frosting or glaze. Thank you for sharing!!
