Here's a great addition to a famous classic sloppy joe recipe making it with cheese melted.
We also have a variety of meats we used leftover turkey, chicken breast and delicious ground beef like the original.
Any way you make this it's delicious with the addition of cheese, everything's better with cheese, isn't it?
1 pound ground round or use ground leftover turkey or chicken
1 can whole tomatoes put through a food processor
1 chopped Italianelle sweet or hot pepper or use bell pepper
3 cloves finely minced garlic
1 teaspoon granulated garlic
11/2 tablespoons Worchestershire sauce
1 teaspoon mustard
2 tablespoons sugar
For the bread:
Italian bread sliced for as many sandwiches you're going to make
Olive oil
Granulated garlic
Cheese to use:
Slices of thick cut cheese either extra sharp provolone, cheddar, mozzarella or a mixture
Brush both sides of the bread with olive oil and sprinkle with garlic. Set aside.
In a medium frying pan, add 3 tablespoons olive oil, garlic, beef and peppers, fry until pink is gone. Add all the rest of the ingredients down to the sugar.
Using a griddle or clean frying pan, spread the cooked meat on the inside of the sandwich placing the garlic oil side of the bread down. Put the cheese on top of the loose meat, top with another slice of bread oil side up. Grill each side on low heat until the cheese melts
