These Potatoes are the best side dish on the planet because they are just as it sounds pizza topped with your favorite pizza toppings, ours just happens to be pepperoni.

One of my favorite Italian side dishes in our family is potatoes and gourmet topped with Marinara Sauce, melted cheese, and some favorite pizza toppings these are a home run.

Homemade marinara sauce is the best but of course, you can buy a jarred sauce favorite and load the top up with a  blend of provolone, mozzarella, and grated cheese, it's a gourmet Italian masterpiece.

No matter what you serve these potatoes with, they will be a big hit so make plenty of them!.

Easy Step Making Pizza Topped Baked Potato Recipe

  • bake the potatoes or microwaved them
  • scoop out the potatoes and season then refill
  • top with sauce, and pizza toppings with cheese
  • broil

Pick your own toppings (set up a serving station)

  • sauteed shrimp, or scampi-style seafood topping 
  • any kinds of sauteed or raw peppers, onions, mushrooms
  • steamed vegetables with cheese
  • fresh tomatoes chopped 
  • more marinara sauce
  • chopped crinkled black olives

  • thick-sliced provolone, mozzarella, or another kind you prefer

Pepperoni Pizza Baked Potatoes

Pepperoni Pizza Baked Potatoes

These are just what they sound like baked potatoes loaded with pizza sauce and pizza topping with a blend of melted provolone and mozzarella cheese. An amazing side dish or appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 1 or 2 slices per potato of thin slices of pepperoni
  • 4 teaspoons of extra virgin olive oil or melted butter
  • 4 baked potatoes as many as you need to be sliced in half see directions
  • Note: for those who like crispy skin, rub with olive oil and bake the scooped-out jackets until crispy at 400 degrees before filling.
  • 1/4 cup grated Pecorino Romano Cheese
  • 1 can Pizza Sauce canned or homemade
  • 4 pieces from the package of whole milk slices of mozzarella
  • 4 pieces of deli-sliced provolone cheese
  • 1/8 of a teaspoon per potato of Italian herb seasoning
  • pinch of granulated garlic powder for each potato
  • salt, and pepper to taste
  • Optional Garnish: more Pecorino Romano cheese, pizza sauce, and torn fresh basil leaves

Instructions

  1. Baked the potato methods:
  2. Wash the potatoes.
  3. Microwave on high piercing the potatoes for 9 minutes for 4 medium-sized or until soft.
  4. Bake for 1 hour at 400 degrees in foil or in a baking dish.
  5. After the potatoes are cooked, slice them in half and remove the potatoes from the jackets.
  6. Place the insides of the potatoes in a bowl add the olive oil or butter and mix until chunky and add back to the jackets.
  7. Sprinkle the top of each one with grated cheese, herbs, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  8. Top with a few tablespoons of pizza sauce, cheese, and then pepperoni slices.
  9. Add other toppings if you wish.
  10. Broil on high for around 2 to 3 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and the toppings are starting to crisp up.
  11. Serve with more sauce if desired and freshly torn basil leaves.
