- use butter and oil combined for frying for the best flavor
- drain them on paper towels to absorb the grease
- keep it warm to keep crispy on a serving dish in the oven until completed cooking all the French toast
- for best results add the flour and milk to a blender and pulse until smooth to get a nice combined mixture, adding the eggs last

Ingredients
- 4 eggs
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1/3 cup heavy cream or half and half
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Optional: just a pinch of cinnamon to taste, nutmeg, or allspice
- 8 slices Texas Toast bread, thick style Italian bread, egg bread, or whatever you like (preferably day-old bread)
- 4 tablespoons of butter
- 2 tablespoon canola or vegetable oil
Instructions
- First, you will need to make a smooth custard-like mixture in which I prefer to use an electric blender.
- If whisking you will need a deep bowl.
- Either whisk (or use a blender) add the flour and milk together blend until smooth.
- Add the eggs, sugar, cream, vanilla, salt, and cinnamon if using and combine until smooth, (by whisking or blender).
- In a heavy deep fry pan (like cast iron) heat and melt the butter and oil on medium heat.
- Dip the bread one at a time in the custard mixture.
- Fry on both sides for 2 to 3 minutes on each side or until golden browned.
- Place on paper towels to drain the oil.
- For the restaurant effect, cut in a diagonal shape then sprinkle with powdered sugar.
