Pork Sazon is a Latin tender seasoned pork with tomatoes, onion, and garlic, so tender and flavorful!

- 3 pounds pork chops (or chicken thighs) bone-in or boneless
- 8 ounces of chicken broth
- 1/2 cup white wine
- 16 ounce can tomato sauce
- 2 plum tomatoes chopped
- 1 packet Sazon (Goya brand is what we used)
- 1 green bell pepper sliced (or any colored bell peppers)
- 2 slices of jalapeno fresh or jarred pepper
- 1/4 cup Spanish pimento olives sliced
- 2 tablespoons garlic, minced
- 2 fresh basil leaves chopped
- 2 tablespoons flat-leaf Italian parsley (or use cilantro if you like it which is the original ingredient )
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1 teaspoon granulated garlic powder
- salt and ground black pepper to taste
- water (only add if the pork isn't forked tender and it begins to dry out)
Instructions
- In a large deep frying pan over medium heat, add the oil and fry the pork chops until browned on both sides.
- Stir in the seasoning packet along with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Add to the skillet, garlic, peppers, chopped tomatoes, and wine, and tomato sauce.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer until pork is fork-tender.
- Add water if it starts to dry out it takes around 1 hour on low heat or less depending on the thickness of the pork chops.
- Stir in basil and parsley.
- Serve with beans and rice, crusty bread, mashed potatoes, or cooked pasta.
- Note: for the slow cooker method (or instant pot using the slow cooker mode on) just brown the meat first with garlic and onions then add everything else and put it on low for around 6 to 8 hours.
