During the year I always try to make something just a little extra special when it comes to weddings, showers, or any life event and these Wedding Dress Mini Cupcakes are perfect for that special someone in your life.

The cupcakes are always the center of attention on the table when hosting a dinner rehearsal party for a special person in your life getting married and these mini cupcakes are quite the showstopper.

These easy mini cupcakes shaped in the bride's wedding dress are very easy to make and you'll surprise yourself with the finished product on how beautiful and creative this is to share with a loved one.

Our all-shimmering dress is made with sparkling glitter, edible beads, and buttercream-frosted cupcakes, arranged in the shape of a wedding dress.

The cupcakes can all be made from scratch along with the buttercream frosting or you can use your favorite flavored cake mix with our version below of a fabulous bakery-transformed doctored cake mix instructions.

With these step-by-step instructions, you will feel very proud of your creation plus it makes a nice shower or wedding rehearsal dessert.

Whenever I make these I feel like I really contributed something special from the heart this is a vintage suppose to look old worn and wrinkly almost Victorian style dress, make the dress how you like.

Make it your own in color for frosting, change up the beads, and get however fancy your creative juices can get and let the kids learn in the kitchen by decorating the cupcakes.

Please read our tips before starting and follow the step by step with the photos, this is super easy to do, and worth the time it takes to make someone's day super special (see our printable instructions at the bottom).

Tips

  1. use a mini melon ball scoop for mini cupcakes or an ice cream scoop for regular sized
  2. make sure if using canned frosting it's mixed with powdered sugar to thicken for piping or it will lose its shape
  3. sprinkle any candy glitter while the icing is still damp
  4. any cake mix can be used or frosting
  5. always use paper liners for mini or full-sized cupcakes
  6. best to line the box with paper lace and cover it with plastic wrap

  8. tint frosting to the bridal party colors if desired or use glitter sprinkles in the theme
  9. NOTE: the candy beads are just in between the holes when the cupcakes are put together. I used a lot of frosting then sprinkle the beads in those spaces just to fill the gaps. No one at the beads so don't worry about breaking someone's teeth!

Wedding Dress Mini Cupcakes

Wedding Dress Mini Cupcakes

Prep time: 15 MinCook time: 25 MinInactive time: 1 HourTotal time: 1 H & 40 M
Perfect cupcakes for a house bridal shower or wedding rehearsal dinner party. These wedding dress mini cupcakes are the talk of the evening for dessert and a show stopper when hosting the event!

Ingredients

  • Shown in our photos is the mini cupcake tin and you will need 31 small cupcakes (or for full size, you will need 30 large regular-sized cupcakes made in a standard-sized tin)
  • 2 boxes of cake mix for large cupcakes or 1 box to make mini cupcakes
  • (or use our homemade anisette cake or any flavoring made-from-scratch cake recipe)
  • paper liners (white or lace) use mini liners or full size for large pans
  • white frosting (you will need powdered sugar if using canned frosting to thicken or use our Homemade Buttercream Recipe for Icing at the end of this post).
  • 1 rectangular thick cake cardboard box to fit the cupcakes (an empty soda cardboard box works for the minis)
  • white candy round pearls off white candy beads (usually found at any party or craft stores)
  • sparkling sugar (thick chunky kind)
  • for the belt, you can use the beads or lace ribbon
  • piping bag with a large star tip (I used a disposable one from the dollar store)
  • rectangular paper lace to line the box with plastic wrap over the lace

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees, line your cupcake tins whether making mini or regular-sized cakes and set aside.
  2. Line your cardboard with lace and cover it with plastic wrap then set it aside.
  3. We used Mini cupcake pans (our dress is what is shown in the photo taken) which needed 31 cupcakes and if making large cupcakes you will need to make 30 to make this dress).
  4. Prepare the cake flavor of choice (either using a cake mix to package instructions or your favorite scratch cake) white or usually the wedding party colors for tinting the cake batter or frosting.
  5. See under notes for other suggestions.
  6. We used a small melon ball scoop for mini cupcakes(or an ice cream scoop for large cupcakes,) to make even sizes.
  7. Bake the cupcakes in prepared pans to package instructions and cool completely.
  8. If you have leftover batter (which we always do) make extra cupcakes in case one doesn't have the correct height you want them as even as possible.
  9. Arrange the cupcakes as shown in the photos in the wedding dress shape.
  10. The directions are as follows for placement on your prepared lined cardboard:
  11. Working from the bottom row add 5 cupcakes first in a row, then 5 more in the next row, 4 in the next, then 3 cupcakes, and then 2 for the waist then 3 again 3 more in the next row, and then the upper arm and sleeves get 3 mini each.
  12. Please follow the photo, it's easier to place them.
  13. I then filled my pastry bag with a frosting of choice (using either canned or homemade) and piped each cupcake with the large star tip in a swirling motion to cover each cupcake completely with icing.
  14. If you would like to use beads on the cupcakes do that after you decorate each one (I didn't use them on the cupcakes only for decorating in different sections of the dress and actually followed what the bride was wearing in style).
  15. Once all cupcakes are frosted, fill in any gaps using a star tip with frosting and fill all spaces in between.
  16. Decorate with candy beads in white, sparkling sugar, and lace can be used for the belt.
  17. Sprinkle sparkling sugar over the entire wedding dress if preferred and let dry in the air for at least an hour so the frosting firms up before covering.
  18. Homemade Buttercream Icing: (double the recipe)
  19. 3 cups powdered sugar
  20. 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, at room temperature
  21. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (use the clear extract for pure white)
  22. 1 to 2 tablespoons heavy or regular whipping cream
  23. Mix this with an electric heavy-duty mixer adding the sugar and butter to a bowl on low speed for around 3 minutes.
  24. Add the vanilla, and cream and beat for another minute.
  25. Sometimes you need more cream to get the right consistency just add by teaspoons until it's a good thickness for piping.
  26. Add the icing to the piping bag and decorate.

  13. This is hideous and everyone who says otherwise is either lying to make you feel better or they go through life lying to themselves about what real beauty is.

    1. Anonymous, lol. You are mean and rude and everyone who says otherwise is either lying to make you feel better or you go through life lying to yourself about what kindness is. If your anonymous "opinion" is cruel, just keep it to yourself. I hope you can see and spread beauty and kindness rather than unkindness

    2. Well if it ain’t the garbage. Honey not everyone thinks like you anonymous. Personally you fall flat. As for the amazing cup cakes and decore I can now say with certainty this is something I would definitely do! For friends and even in my own wedding. Thank you so much for your hard work!

    3. Your personality is hideous. If you don’t agree, you are obviously lying to yourself. It takes a really unhappy person to make a comment like yours just to make someone else feel bad. What a dick.

    4. Who do you think you are coming on someone's site & leaving a ignorant comment?? I think what she did with the cupcakes are really pretty. A great idea for bridal showers or decorate it different for a little girls birthday party. You must be so lonely and angry with yourself that only way you can feel better is to lash out at people and condemn what they have done. From the comments I read everyone but you likes what she did with the cupcakes.

    5. To anonymous
The only ugly thing here is your true colors. Beauty comes from within, and it looks like you're on empty.

    6. Dear Darling Anonymous, I can say this quite easily because I can see that somewhere throughout your life you were raised and conditioned to be harsh and tough to other people who don't fit your ideals of perfection or adequacy. Someone has hurt you by making you feel inadequate and insecure by your own shining qualities and so you lash out at others in any hostile way that you can. Look in the mirror and say to yourself "It's not your fault!" You didn't deserve the horrible things that have been said or done to you in your younger years. Your indomitable spirit was held down by those who didn't appreciate you or see and value your worth. Everyone needs to have their moment to shine and you were denied yours and all of the hurt and anger are seeping out of you in toxic ways but know that it's not your fault! When you have started getting the right kind of help or therapy please realise the pain that you have inflicted on others who also didn't deserve it and say two very meaningful words "I'm sorry" once you realise that nobody here is to blame for your pain. You will have taken the first step in reinventing yourself and creating a better and beautiful version of yourself that you have so far successfully hidden from the world. You are not angry with this lady, you are angry with those who made you this way. I hope you have an amazing day and I will be praying for you to shed your old skin and let your beautiful colourful soul shine through. Step out of the dark and come into the warmth - it's nice!

    7. To the person above… Wow! What a sour, bitter bit of work you are! You obviously have a few issues and I really hope you get the help you need. Beauty is not something you should be commenting on at the moment..

  14. I'd suggest therapy for the person above. "Go through life lying to themselves about what real beauty is" It reads like a pretentious five yr old wrote it. Very cute piece of art. Retro wedding dress homage.

  15. Anonymous, I'll pray for you honey you obviously need it very beautiful cupcake idea that she made you my dear need a therapist.

  16. Dear Anonymous, did you take your pills? If your family taught you to express your feelings this way, I think you have a real problem. Otherwise, maybe that's a lack of love, affection or intellect you are dealing with. Sorry for you and your inner pain.
