This classic chicken and dumplings recipe is all about comfort, simplicity, and homemade flavor.

Ingredients
- 8 cups chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon Better Than Bouillon chicken-flavored paste, or use 2 bouillon cubes
- 2 stalks of celery stalks ( remove after the broth is cooked)
- 3 carrots in square diced pieces
- 1 small whole onion, peeled
- 1 pound of rotisserie chicken, off the bone, cubed
- 2 cups milk
- Dumplings
- 3 cups AP flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 - 1/3 cup buttermilk
- Optional: 1 teaspoon herb seasoning, 1 teaspoon granulated garlic powder
Instructions
- Bring it to a boil, the broth and chicken bouillon, celery, onion, and carrots, then reduce the heat to a simmer and cover.
- Let it simmer for 20 minutes or until the vegetables are tender.
- Discard the onion and celery stalks.
- Combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and buttermilk in a large bowl.
- Stir until a dough forms.
- In a large mixing bowl, add the 3 cups of flour, 1 tablespoon baking powder, ,2 teaspoons salt, and 1 - 1/3 cups buttermilk.
- Once the dough comes together, roll it out on a heavily floured board and cut into thin squares.
- Add the dumplings to the hot simmering broth, stirring to keep them apart.
- Cover and let the dumplings simmer for around 20 minutes to let the broth start to thicken.
