Refried bean flag dip is a delicious way to start the festivities and all your family and friends will love not only the taste but how creative it looks.


The dip is so delicious and easy to make, it goes quick, I always make a double batch.


You can make this dip low fat with all reduced calorie ingredients like sour cream, refried beans and omit the meat all vegetarian style or go for the full-fat ingredients for meat lovers.


I also buy whole wheat or gluten-free chips to dip with.


Using chopped fresh vegetables taste great with this hot dip!


I love carrot sticks, zucchini slices, celery sticks, long thin slices of hot or sweet peppers or anything or kinds you like are perfect for this dip.


Kids and adults love this, it's fun and you can even use leftovers (if there any, and make a filled tortilla wrap!

I love to cut up a huge tray of different things to use to dip into the refried bean dip.


I have an assortment of everything cut up like a dipping station.


We love cutting up raw vegetables like zucchini chips and carrot chips and sliced peppers even firm avocado slices.


I try to watch my carb intake.


Anywhere I can cut out carbs I do it.


My family likes the full-fat version so I make just a little lower fat for me.


Beans have carbs in them too.


I always use fat-free beans and of course always eat in moderation.

During any holiday time, we like to get creative and dress it up.


This flag dip is the perfect party dip for any Patriotic party.


Mexican food is our second favorite food over Italian food.


This dip is delicious with or without toppings.


It's great with pita chips, tortilla chips and even vegetables cut up.


Anything you dip it in is delicious.


Of course, my kids tell me I never add enough shredded cheddar.


There isn't even enough cheese on anything they eat!


The cheeses melted is heaven on a chip!

The best part is the leftovers



If there are any, this leftover will make a great tortilla, quesadilla, or stuffing for a burrito!


I always make a double batch.


One to eat now and then and leftovers are a perfect second meal!


This refried bean dip is also a great filling to fill zucchini boats or use long slices of zucchini and roll them up.


For years this is my go-to dip whenever there is a picnic, family gathering at the house, graduation party or just because it's a great little snack.


After dinner, if I ever get hungry.


I always heat up a little bit of this dip and add some crushed tortilla. It's so good.

A festive Patriotic styled dip for all your Red White and Blue party needs. The dip is made with sour cream, refried beans , seasonings, ground beef, and simply delicious!

ingredients:

  • 1 pound hamburger
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • optional Cayenne pepper for heat
  • salt, pepper to taste
  • 1 can refried beans full fat or fat-free
  • Garnish for the top
  • Shredded white cheese ( I used Mexican blends)
  • Sliced grape tomatoes
  • Sliced Black olives
  • 1 cup of sour cream  or more full fat or fat-free
  • tortilla chips, vegetable, sticks or the filling can be used for tacos and burritos

instructions:

How to cook Refried Bean Flag Dip

  1. In a large fry pan saute the hamburger with the seasonings.
  2. You can add cayenne pepper if you like it hot and spicy.
  3. Brown the meat then add the refried beans and stir till well-blended folding into the cooked meat. Pour into a rectangular glass dish 9 x9 or pie plate.
  4. Spread sour cream over the top, sprinkle one 2 cups or more of shredded white Mexican blend cheese over top.
  5. Now arrange the sliced olives in the corner and the sliced tomatoes in a row for the stars and striped effect.
  6. When ready to serve,  bake on 400 degrees until the cheese is melted or broil it if in a hurry it's already hot!
  7. You could also microwave until the cheese is melted, store in the refrigerator.
  8. Use leftovers for tortilla wraps,  a taco filling, Mexican Lasagna or burritos.
