This Refried Bean Flag Dip perfect festive bean dip to kick off a Patriotic party theme or plain for any occasion and get-together.

Refried bean flag dip is a delicious way to start the festivities and all your family and friends will love not only the taste but how creative it looks.

This tasty bean and ground beef flavored with a Mexican flair dip is so delicious and easy to make, it goes quickly at any party, and I always make a double batch.

You can make this dip low-fat with all reduced-calorie ingredients like sour cream, and refried beans and omit the meat all vegetarian style plus you can even substitute ground turkey if you prefer.

Set up a serving bar for your guests and let them enjoy several toppings just like would build a salad with our suggestions below.

Using chopped fresh vegetables tastes great with this hot dip!

How To Make Refried Bean Patriotic Flag Dip

  1. fry up some ground beef with spices added
  2. drain the fat off
  3. add this to a deep baking casserole dish

Patriotic Refried Bean Flag  Dip

A hot refried bean dip is great for any party theme today we made a Patriotic holiday flag.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • salt, and pepper to taste
  • 1 can refried beans full fat or fat-free
  • Garnish for the top
  • shredded cheddar or Mexican blends of shredded cheese
  • sliced grape tomatoes
  • sliced olives (kalamata are usually bluer for the theme)
  • 1 cup of sour cream or more full-fat or fat-free
  • Note: substitute a package of taco seasoning for all the listed seasoning ingredients above
  • optional: cayenne pepper for heat added to the refried beans
  • Serving Ideas: tortilla chips, vegetables, sticks, or crackers

Instructions

  1. In a large fry pan saute the ground beef with the seasonings.
  2. You can add cayenne pepper if you like it hot and spicy.
  3. Brown the meat then add the refried beans and stir till well-blended folding into the cooked meat.
  4. Pour into a rectangular glass dish 9 x9 or pie plate ( if you want thinner layers of dip use a large baking casserole).
  5. Spread sour cream over the top, and sprinkle one 2 cups or more of shredded cheese.
  6. Arrange the sliced olives in the top left-hand corner (as a flag looks) and the sliced tomatoes in rows for the stars and striped effect.
  7. When ready to serve, microwave for around 1 minute or bake at 400 degrees for around 10 minutes ( or broil the top on high for just 1 minute) just until the cheese is melted
  8. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator.
  9. Note: The dip is best served warm.
  10. Use leftovers for tortilla wraps, a taco filling, Mexican Lasagna, or for topping Mexican salad bowls.
