This is the perfect party dip for any seafood lover and the easiest Hot Crab Dip ever but guess what, I have several meat substitutions for all my allergy or seafood folks who can't eat it!


Just go straight to my substitution suggestions right here on this post for alternative ingredients.


Large chunks of lump crab meat and a delicious cheesy blend of melted heaven that will be gone in a second when served.


This dip is always asked for and we just love serving it for all our get-togethers.


If you never tried a hot crab dip before you're in for a real treat and I have several suggestions for you to serve this dip with.

Dips Can Be A Whole Meal



Depending on what your serving assortments are, dips can be the perfect easy party to throw together.


I love to make four or five types of dips that will be perfect for anyone there.


The nice thing about dips is how versatile they are, if you have seafood allergies, this tastes great with shredded chicken or pork too!

Seafood Substitutions


  • shredded cooked chicken (canned or homemade)
  • shredded cooked pork
  • canned shredded ham or homemade put through a food processor
  • crumbled cooked bacon
  • shredded cooked steak
  • cooked and seasoned hamburger meat

Other Addition:



  • 1/2 cup chopped artichoke hearts
  • shredded sharp cheddar or another kind you prefer
  • 1/2 cup whole kernel corn
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh spinach leaves or boiled escarole, 
  • chopped green or hot peppers or chilies, 
  • for a little heat try a few tablespoons hot sauce in with the mayonnaise

Hot Crab Dip

Hot Crab Dip

Crab dip is one of the best appetizers for any seafood lover. Perfect for game days and a family gathering party. This hot dip is full of chunks of lump crab meat and delicious served with garlic bread, chips or vegetables.
Prep time: 10 MinCook time: 30 MinTotal time: 40 Min

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound crab meat ( use lump crab in a can or you can shell 1 pound of fresh crab legs)
  • 1 - 8-ounce package of cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup Italian blended shredded cheese ( 1/2 cup goes on top the other half in the mixture)
  • 1 teaspoon granulated garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon white or black pepper
  • Garnish: Italian flavored breadcrumbs mixed with 1 tablespoon Pecorino Romano Cheese, 1/2 teaspoon of granulated garlic powder
  • Substitutes for allergies to seafood or if you're not a fan of seafood:
  • shredded cooked chicken (canned or homemade)
  • shredded cooked pork
  • canned shredded ham or homemade put through a food processor
  • crumbled cooked bacon
  • shredded cooked steak
  • cooked and seasoned hamburger meat
  • Optional Additions: 1/2 cup chopped artichoke hearts, 1/2 cup whole kernel corn, 1/2 cup chopped fresh spinach leaves or boiled escarole, chopped green or hot peppers or chilies, for heat try a few tablespoons hot sauce in with the mayonnaise

Instructions:

  1. Mix everything except 1/2 cup of shredded cheese.
  2. Pour into a deep baking dish.
  3. Top with the remaining cheese, sprinkle with breadcrumb mixture.
  4. Bake at 350 until browned on top and bubbling around 30 minutes.
  5. Serving suggestions: stick cut vegetables, garlic bread, pita bread toasted, crackers
