If you love Italian Amaretto Liqueur, this is how to make it right in your own home with just a few ingredients in no time.


This drink is so versatile in so many recipes and has many more uses than just drinking it if you're not fond of alcohol.



Cooking is another great way to use Amaretto and it's perfect around the holidays for gift giving along with being so inexpensive to make!

Amaretto is a sweet liqueur made with vodka and this homemade version is perfect along with it only pennies on the bottle in comparison to store-bought.



This sweet cordial style drink has an almond flavor and great over ice or added to cakes, other hot drinks, and of course over cubed ice.



The recipe takes virtually no time to make and all you need is a nice bottle to store it in, so don't throw away those empty bottles, you can always use on for making and storing this in.



I use Amaretto in my Amaretto Sweet Potatoes, Fudge, Cheesecake Amaretto Hot Cocoa, and so much more so don't think it's just for drinking!

Even if you're not into drinking alcohol, you can use this homemade Amaretto in so many other ways.



I will give you some great suggestions below on the many ideas on using this delicious almond-flavored cordial in so many ways.



This delicious drink has been around for centuries.



While Amaretto is meant as an after-dinner drink, you can enjoy the sweet liqueur at any time.

Suggestions and Uses for Homemade Amaretto

Adding to Recipes (most recipes unless no-bake, the alcohol with burn off

Tips


  • Make sure all the sugars are dissolved
  • After boiling, cool completed after sugars were dissolved
  • DO NOT add the vodka and flavoring until this is cooled off
  • Constantly stir while boiling the sugars
  • Use a funnel to add to your decorative bottles
  • Store in a dark place away from heat
  • This will keep easily for 6 months in a sealed bottle

  2. Brown sugar
  3. Water
  4. Vodka 80 proof is what I use
  5. Pure Almond and Vanilla Extracts

Homemade Italian Amaretto Liqueur

Italian Amaretto Liqueur and Hot Toddy Recipes

This is a how-to make Amaretto Liqueur from scratch and then making a delicious hot toddy to warm you up during colds and flu season. Whether you make it a hot drink or cold on cubed ice this is simple and easy to make.
Prep time: 11 MCook time: 5 MTotal time: 16 M

Ingredients:

  • How To Make Italian Amaretto Liqueur
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar ( I have also used light, my opinion is dark is better)
  • 1 cup of water
  • Add after cooling:
  • 2 cups Good Grade Vodka ( I like potato Vodka the best) 80 proof
  • 1 teaspoon  pure vanilla
  • 2 tablespoons pure almond extract

Instructions:

  1. For Making the Liqueur
  2. In a small saucepan, boil the water with both sugars until it dissolves stirring constantly.
  3. Cool completely.
  4. Stir in the vodka and extracts.
  5. Place in a decorative container using a funnel and seal.
  6. Hot Toddy with Amaretto Recipe:
  7. 1- 1/2 ounces Amaretto using this homemade recipe or store-bought or use another sweet Brandy or Frangelico Liqueur
  8. 1 oz white rum
  9. 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  10. 3 oz boiling water
  11. Pour everything into a mug and stir until sugar is dissolved.
  12. Garnish with a wedge of lemon.
