Baked Grilled or Fried

What better way to serve your guests than with a great barbecued chicken at the party?

This is my go-to recipe that everyone raves about, it sure fools most folks!

This chicken is baked instead of fried or grilled and it's so much easier to prepare.

I took the easy way out to feed a crowd to have more time to enjoy the company!

An Easy Way to Make Baked Barbecued Chicken!

Instead of standing over a hot grill or frying pan, I baked it all in one pan and it gave me time to spend with everyone instead of cooking while they were here.

If you really want to fool people, bake it and then heat it on the grill until it gets the char marks, then add the sauce!

I have no problem telling everyone it's baked and didn't touch the grill, this barbecued chicken is delicious!

Seasoning the Chicken

The chicken is lightly seasoned before baking.

The olive oil gives it the crispy "fried like" tasting skin and if it's not as crispy as you like, put the broiler on a few minutes to get it just right!

You can even serve the chicken with barbecue sauce on the side for dipping.

I really love it both ways. It sure is a fun chicken to eat at a picnic.

It's really so simple to make yourself.

This easy homemade barbecue sauce and it stores in a mason jar for other uses, up to 3 months in the refrigerator.

It makes those crispy baked chicken legs, breasts, thighs or wings over the top tasty!

Cleanup is a breeze

I really love using parchment paper. The chicken cooked perfectly with a lined baking pan.

The pan is virtually clean when it's done. That another bonus while baking this barbecued chicken.

The skin crisps up perfectly, the barbecue sauce sticks nicely to the chicken.

This barbecued chicken is finger licking good for sure and making homemade barbecue sauce is a bonus to your guests!

You could even leave some plain like I do, some folks love their chicken plain and simple.

This chicken baked is delicious with or without barbecue sauce because of the herbs and spices on it.

Other suggestions for the sauce you can find with my chicken wing dipping sauces.

  • 1/4 cup prepared yellow mustard
  • a few twists of finely fresh cracked black pepper

instructions:

How to cook Baked Barbecued Chicken

  1. Place parchment paper in the baking pan to fit up the sides also. I use a 13 x 9 baking pan.
  2. Spray parchment lightly with cooking oil. Place chicken on the paper in the pan. Sprinkle generously with all herbs and spices. Then salt, pepper to taste.
  3. Drizzle olive oil on top of the pieces, rolling in the pan until evenly coated with oil and spices.
  4. Bake in a hot 400 degrees oven until the chicken is very crispy around 1 and 1/2 hours or more. In the meantime make the barbecue sauce recipe below.
  5. For the Sauce Recipe:
  6. Place all in a mason jar and shake.
  7. Pour over cooked chicken. Store sauce in refrigerator. I use it up within 3 months if any is leftover.
  8. Pour barbecue sauce over the chicken while hot and serve.
