Our sweet Teriyaki Glazed Ham Steaks are made with a yummy homemade sauce with honey pineapple glaze and are great for any meat you add this to!

It’s so simple to make teriyaki sauce from scratch and doesn’t require any lengthy marinating of the meat, to get this tantalizing great Asian flavor.

The sauce has all easy-to-find ingredients and is perfect on ham, chicken, salmon and so much more.

Even the kids love this delicious sweet glaze and one of the most asked-for on any grilled meats we prepare!

Easy Steps for Making Teriyaki Grilled Ham Steak

  1. make the homemade teriyaki sauce and simmer until it thickens
  2. trim the ham steak and remove any fat
  3. heat the grill and cook until a nice char of grill marks are on both sides of the ham brushing with the homemade sauce on both sides very lightly
  4. place this on a plate and pour the glaze over the top
  5. Note: (there are oven, air fryer, and pan-seared cooking methods below you can also use)
  6. serve this ham with fluffy cooked rice, stir-fried rice, or steamed vegetables

Cooking Methods

  1. Air Fryer: preheat to 400 degrees, oil spray using a pie plate that's oven-proof, or place on an oil-sprayed basket. add whatever other ingredients for 2 minutes on each side flipping once and brushing with the glaze. Place on the platter with the  remaining glaze poured on top
  2. Oven: preheat oven to bake at 400 degrees. Place the ham in an oil-sprayed baking dish or gridded pan. Bake for 12 minutes then add a topping glaze of choice on top continue cooking for around 3 more minutes. Note: this can also be broiled on medium heat for 3 minutes on each side.
  3. Pan Seared: heat a gridded cast iron pan until is hot. Add around 2 tablespoons of butter to the pan and sear the ham steak for around 4 minutes on each side.

Teriyaki Grilled Ham Steaks

This Teriyaki Grilled Ham Steak is sizzling in a teriyaki glaze that is carmelized with pineapple and a tropical explosion of yumminess in every bite!

Ingredients

  • 1 large ham steak trimmed
  • Homemade Teriyaki Sauce:
  • 2 - tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 - teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1- teaspoon minced ginger or use a dash of ground ginger powder
  • 2- tablespoons of honey
  • 1/4 cup diced crushed, chunk pineapple fresh or canned drained and blotted dry with paper towels( or use pineapple preserves, orange marmalade, fresh or another style preserve IE peach, apricot, or pear, etc)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of avocado oil, peanut oil, or sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Grill the ham steak outdoors or in a cast iron heated pan until the sear is deep grill marks on both sides.
  2. See note for other cooking methods for air frying, baking, or pan-fried.
  3. In the meantime make the teriyaki sauce whisking all the ingredients except for cornstarch in a pan on low heat and simmering for 2 minutes.
  4. In a small dish add the cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of cold water and whisk it into the pot.
  5. Simmer until this thickens around 3 minutes.
  6. Note: ( Teriyaki in a bottle store-bought can be substituted using 1 cup of teriyaki with the addition of 1/2 cup of brown sugar and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch) fold in 1/2 cup of drained canned crushed pineapple).
  7. Reheat the ham steaks and brush a little glaze on both sides turning once to warm up.
  8. Place on a platter and pour the remaining glazed on top and serve.
  9. Serving Suggestions: cooked white rice, steamed vegetables, stir-fried rice
