Caprese Salad is made by using Whole Milk Mozzarella Cheese, fresh basil a good grade balsamic vinegar, and of course vine ripe fresh tomatoes.

The Authentic way of course is to use fresh buffalo milk mozzarella when possible for the best results.

Insalata Caprese

This salad (salad in the style of Capri) is a simple salad from the Italian region of Campania, made of sliced fresh buffalo mozzarella, fresh plum tomatoes, and basil.

We prefer a good grade balsamic reduction on our Caprese salads which is 18 years aged or you can make a delicious balsamic reduction with my recipe below.

This is an all-year-round salad we never tire of, it's simple and delicious.

  1. Great recipe. We make it all the time. I was commenting to my wife the other night. Both having worked late. Dinner not cooked!!! We had a bag of tomato's that just was yelling "Eat Us", "Eat Us", Well after hearing those tomatos I whipped out my knife sliced them, put some olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt & pepper and fresh basil of course. We had some french bread that was going stale opened a bottle of red wine. We ate this simple meal and dined like a Prince and Princess.
