A warm cheesesteak dip that is perfect whenever hosting a party and served with sliced baguette bread.
Ingredients
- 1 pound thinly sliced ribeyes with fat trimmed (or t-bone, sirloin steaks)
- Note: in a pinch, use deli roast beef, but do not saute it since it is precooked
- salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 yellow onion, diced
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 green bell pepper
- 1 packages of cream cheese softened at room temperature
- 8 ounces of shredded provolone cheese (or another good melting cheese you prefer)
- 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 pinch cayenne pepper
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
- Heat a large frying pan with the olive oil and sear the steak for 3 to 5 minutes on each side.
- Add the meat to an oven-proof baking dish and set it aside.
- Add the butter to the same pan, melt it, then add the onion and peppers ( adding any other substitutions or suggested ingredients from notes below) and saute to soften with the brown bits and butter for around 4 to 5 minutes.
- In a clean mixing bowl beat the cheese cheese until smooth.
- Add the provolone, sauce, salt, pepper and combine evenly.
- Mince the steak on a cutting board and add the juice with onion mixture and meat to the cream cheese.
- Place all the ingredients into the oven-proof baking dish.
- Bake in the preheated oven until browned and bubbling around 25 minutes.
- For crispier cheese, broil the top for 2 minutes on high heat.
- Serve with slices of baguette bread.
