Roasted Polenta Potatoes

Monday, April 14, 2025
Crispy Crunchy, Coated Roasted Polenta Potatoes infused with a garlic herb oil and one of our family's favorite flavorful potato side dishes for any meal.

Perfect with any weeknight meal and can be made ahead of time and reheated with the best fresh-made flavor (especially reheated in an air fryer).

Add these to our recipe for Sheet Pan Sausage and Peppers. This addition will be addictive for a crunchy coating instead of breadcrumbs.

For breakfast and brunch, I cut potatoes into large cubes, cut down on the garlic, and roast them in a blazing hot oven for maximum crunch on the exterior, and they go great with bacon and eggs.

The cornmeal gives these are nice toasty taste when baked in the oven, and a nice alternative to breadcrumbs.

These easy baked and crispy style potato wedges are perfect to take to potlucks, and side dish for backyard BBQs.

Everyone raves about these,e and they taste terrific plain or with marinara or your favorite dipping sauces.

We love Polenta Pizzettes, Polenta Lemon Biscotti Cookies if you would like, try some other polenta recipes.

Broccoli Cheddar Baked Potatoes

Sunday, January 28, 2024
These Broccoli Cheddar Baked potatoes remind me of the potatoes I ordered for lunch which was a popular menu item in that restaurant back in the 1980s.

Our recipe for these potatoes is first boiled, topped with steamed broccoli, and covered in a homemade cheese sauce (or you can make the quick version in our recipe card at the end of this post).

We made a quick version of the cheese sauce using a can of soup, however, we also will give you a homemade delicious ready when you're not in a hurry.

The potato can be a great little lunch or a side dish for dinner and both the quick and homemade versions are delicious.

Try our homemade version for the cheddar sauce it's super delicious and has many other topping uses besides on a baked potato.

Baked Parmesan Crusted Potato Wedges

Saturday, January 25, 2020
If you have never tried Baked Parmesan Crusted Potato Wedges which are like thickly sliced coated baked potatoes, you're missing out on one of the best ever side dishes!

My mom made these throughout my entire childhood, and I have always been the biggest fan of these steak style fries baked.

Even after all these years of this over a 100-year-old recipe, it still continues to be made by my children and family members with fond memories of her.

These are one of the most delicious potato side dishes that go well with any meal or even as a midday snack!

The breadcrumb cheese topped potatoes are delicious just the way they are and don't even need any condiments!

Another great thing about this basic baked potato recipe is you can use any potatoes you like even sweet potatoes!

Mom always came up with great ideas like this one and actually sold these at her delicatessen back in the early 1950s.

Thanksgiving Day Recipes

Monday, October 28, 2019
I can never have too many Thanksgiving Day Recipes.

Although we have our favorites for the Thanksgiving Day Holiday table, we certainly like to add a few over the years that we were introduced too.

We had never really had Butternut Squash soup and with one taste it was love at first bite.

There is a wonderful roundup below of tried and true recipes we make from year to year and some new additions to try.

Who could pass up homemade gravy, broccoli topped with cheese with a crunchy stuffing topping or a delicious Amaretto Pumpkin Cheesecake?

Everyone always looks forward to the desserts, there is always apple pie, pumpkin pecan tart pie, chocolate marble cream pie and old fashioned banana pudding on our tables.

Something for everyone and even some fluffy yeast rolls or broccoli cheese cornbread goes great with any brined Turkey.

We love our leftover hot covered Turkey sandwiches later in the week and make Turkey pot pies with leftovers.

I would love to hear what you do with your leftover Turkey and how you repurpose it for another meal in the comments.

Happy Thanksgiving and have a delicious day from our house to yours!

Scalloped Cheesy Potatoes Recipe

Sunday, February 3, 2019
Scalloped potatoes are the perfect side dish with any meal.

This is really a classic recipe that everyone makes just a little differently.

My version due to cheese lovers in this house, has to have added cheese so these are more Au Gratin style.

I use lots of garlic instead of onion, or you can use both if you like, fresh parsley and shredded provolone give this dish its Italian taste.

These potatoes are perfect with any meats you serve, great for entertaining, and perfect for potluck.

They have a hint of that smoked flavor using leftover ham, cooked bacon, or prosciutto mixed in.

With this crunchy topping, it just takes ordinary scalloped potatoes to the next level of yumminess.

I always end up making these after a big holiday ham with leftovers and everyone looks forward to these creamy baked spuds.

We love all kinds of casseroles, and I can make this my dinner when I add meat to it all in one pan meal!

Mom made many delicious casseroles growing up like this one and another favorite was the famous Classic Tuna Casserole back in the 1960s.
